The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) has challenged the corps members to go into the larger society and make meaningful Impact.
The Executive Governor threw the challenge to the 2021 Batch 'B' (Stream) 1 corps members during their Passing out ceremony held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Akure.
Arakunrin Akeredolu, who lauded the outgoing corps participants for putting aside tribe, language, culture and religious affiliation to serve the mandatory one year service in the Sunshine State, charged them to bring to fore, all the lessons and trainings they have received at no cost.
The Governor who is the Chairman, Southwest Governors Forum enjoined them to focus on youth empowerment programme the NYSC exposed them to during the service year.
"The Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme which NYSC has invested huge resources on should not be allowed to waste away. The white collar jobs are dwindling and the skills acquired through NYSC will definitely make you independent and future entrepreneurs and captains of industries".
The Governor while acknowledging and appreciating their selfless service to complementing his administration in the onerous task of nation building, lauded them for the various impactful projects they executed across the state.
" I want to add that on behalf of the benefitting communities, those projects shall be maintained and adequately taken care of. The legacy you are leaving behind will continue to remain fresh in our memory for a very long time to come".
He appreciated the NYSC management for creating the platform for all Nigerians to have cross fertilisation of ideas and do away with the myths and misconceptions that tend to divide the country.
The Governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Engineer Ajibola Ogidan promised that the state will 'continue in her own little way of supporting the Scheme by all means possible within the dictates of our dwindling resources'.
Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani thanked the corps members for giving out their best and discharging quality service to the citizens and residents of Sunshine State.
The State Coordinator also disclosed that the Director General of the Scheme, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah, DSS, Pjsc, MA, MTRCN, the management, the staff and the entire corps members serving nationwide saluted their resilience and doggedness which made them best among the equals.
"Your selfless service is the reason why we are celebrating you today and I am confident that all lessons learnt in the course of the service year will come handy to propel you to greater heights".
She admonished them not to be rude or arrogant but that they should display good manners which will open doors that education or qualifications cannot open for them.
"The road to greatness is full of challenges but those who dare to be different will definitely surmount whatever life places before them. If you want to conquer, do not sit at home and think about it. Go out and get busy".
The NYSC Ondo State boss admonished them to be extraordinarily kind, selfless, devoted, loving, hardworking as well as being accommodative because the little things they do will ultimately touch the hearts and spirit of people around them.
The 'mother of the nation' as Mrs. Ani is fondly called reminded those who are exiting the service to be good ambassadors of the NYSC which she described as unifying and noble Scheme, as well as their respective families and their various institutions.
Two corps members who distinguished themselves excellently during the service year, Samuel, Chinasa Favour, code number OD/21B/0929 and Ojimmah, Amarachi Blessing, OD/21B/0218 were rewarded with State Honours Award while eight others have their services extended for various misdemeanors.
Newsline NG however gathered that, 1858 corps members which Is made up of 871 males and 987 females were inducted into the NYSC family last year July.
