Osun: Governor-elect, Adeleke gets Certificate of Return

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, presented the Certificate of Return to Osun Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The INEC National Commissioner Supervising Osun, Ogun and Oyo States, Prof. Kunle Ajayi, presented the certificate to Adeleke, and the Deputy Governor-Elect, Prince Kola Adewusi.

The presentation came about 24 hours after a popular singer and nephew of Adeleke, Davido, raised an alarm that nothing must happen to his uncle’s mandate freely given to him by the people of Osun State on Saturday, July 16.

It will be recalled that Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated the incumbent Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, at the governorship poll.

In his acceptance speech after receiving the certificate at a brief ceremony at Osun INEC head office in Osogbo, Adeleke dedicated his victory at the poll to the memory of his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke and the people of Osun state.

Details of the results showed that PDP won in Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakunmosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo Local Government areas.
