Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwrotimi Akeredolu has assured that his administration would reorganise the state owned newspaper, The Hope into a Corporation like Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC), just as he also promised to support the media outfit to pay gratuities of its retired staff.
Akeredolu gave the assurance while playing host to the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, led by the chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, in his office.
He commended the quality and exemplary leadership of the Chairman of the Owena Press Limited, Sir Ademola Adetula, over his unprecedented achievements since he assumed headship of the state-owned newspaper organisation.
The Governor lauded Sir Adetula for his commitment to the overall transformation of the media outfit, saying that Adetula is doing his best in the organisation.
Earlier, the NUJ chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, had appreciated Governor Akeredolu for his support to the Managements of Owena Press Limited and Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC, on the upgrade of facilities at the two state-owned media outfits.
The Chairman lauded the Governor for his giant strides in infrastructure, security and other critical sectors in the state.
“Your bold step in leading the creation of the Southwest Security Network, AMOTEKUN CORPS, is one of your numerous steps at ensuring the safety of lives and property of our people. Your Excellency, the people of Ondo State, and indeed, the entire Yoruba race will forever remain grateful to you for this singular act.
“We also want to commend your administration for the efforts being made at industrializing the state, as well as providing infrastructural facilities across the 18 council areas.
Of particular interest and historic is the Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub, Ore; first ever Flyover in Ore; construction of Oke Alabojuto in Ikare; ongoing dualisation and township road projects in Owo, Ikare, High Court-Hospital, to Ijoka; Akure-Oda road among others.
“Our Dearest Arakunrin, we wish to appreciate your support to the Managements of Owena Press Ltd and Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC, to upgrade facilities at the two state-owned media outfits.
“We will not also forget you Sir for the 2020 approval of Weigh-in Allowance for Journalists and Information officers with the State Government and the local government services, after over 15years of agitations.”
“We equally want to appreciate you sir, for fulfilling your promise in the appointment of one of us, Mrs Julie Fayeun as a Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Information last year.
"We commend Your Excellency for your choice of Media Team as led by the newly deployed Information Commissioner and our performing Chief Press Secretary,” he added.
"We want to also thanked our Talk and do Governor for compassionately approving immediate employment of widows
Meanwhile, Adegbite said work has appreciable level on the ongoing facelift of the main building at the Ondo NUJ press centre
