TVC's Ayodeji Moradeyo: Celebrating a Notable Torchbearer @50

By Fidelis David

Dear, Mr Ayodeji Moradeyo (a.k.a Ayolomo) as you clock 50 years today, my senior colleague and compatriot, I join all men and women of goodwill who cherish your unwavering contributions towards Nigeria's true greatness, through timely information dissemination, to appreciate God's unending grace on your life.

Sometimes ago, I was seating melancholy at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Adegbemile, Akure, Ayolomo, haven observed me, walked up to me and humorously asked, Davido, what's wrong with you? I told him my predicament and his words of admonition was touching and hope- igniting.

His words: "I married at the age of 36, I know you are worried because you don't have a veritable platform giving you money for now. I know you want to settle down but you are being hindered by financial wherewithal. Just be calm, you will soon be ok, you will soon ride vehicle. All you need is focus, cultivate the habit of giving to the poor and if you don't pay your tithes, make sure you start doing it, God will surprise you".

Severally,he made me realize how good I am when it comes to writing and the need for me to keep the good work. His words of admonitions triggers hope and kills frustration.

Since I got to know him, I critically observed that he stands tall as a different breed and belongs to that rare and vanishing category of Journalists who are averse to the practice of bitterness but heavily subscribed to the ideals that make for a healthy democracy and the revival of our country through his developmental style of writing and reporting.

Ayolomo's characteristic expression of humour and happiness is contagious, that one will wonder if anything ever bothers him

These factors testify to how well-rounded Ayolomo is as a problem solver, one who has an eye for talent, who’s not meddlesome, who gives people room to grow, exercise their autonomy in their roles and learn from their own mistakes.

It is worthy of note that Ayolomo's  substantial reportage in the thematic areas of health, education, poverty alleviation, economic empowerment, peacebuilding, social cohesion and community development recently earned him award as the Most Supportive Media Reporter of the year, 2021.

Moradeyo, a Senior News Reporter received the award  at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor's Office, Alagbaka Akure. Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) congratulated Moradeyo for distinguishing himself in his choosen endeavour. This excluded several meritorious awards received by Ayolomo.

It is obvious that Ayolomo has remained highly sought, and relevant in Journalism landscape, not only as a notable torchbearer but as an accessible and down-to-earth counsellor to younger Journalists.

It will Interest you to know that Ayolomo has a rich opinion on practically every human angle issue but I’m also fascinated by the fact that he's an avid listener who’s happy to learn from just anybody regardless of age, gender or socioeconomic status and I must confess that perhaps, these attributes, your beautiful and lovely wife, Mrs Aderonke Olajumoke Moradeyo saw in you to make her choose you.

Mrs Aderonke, kindly thank God for giving you a lovely man like Ayolomo.

As Ayolomo switches to the 6th floor today, I pray that God continue to shine His Light upon his paths and keep him steady in his service to God and mankind.

Congratulations!
