An agitators group, Niger Delta coastline Vanguards has promised to throw thier weight behind the presidential candidate for All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
The group made this known at a Programme tagged “a walk by Niger Delta coastline Vanguard in support of Democracy in Nigeria and Emmacipation of Niger Delta Region from Neglect” held in llaje local government area of Ondo state.
It was observed that the Agitators from Lagos, Delta, Bayelsa, Edo, Rivers, Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom states were represented at the occasion.
In a speech delivered by Olarotimi Omomuwasan Esq on behalf of the group, said, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is someone who strongly believes in oneness of the country.
Omomuwasan said, “seeing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the best amongst the equal is not on the grounds that he belongs to the ruling party, that he comes from the southern part of the country, that he belongs to coastline region of the country but that he is the leader of leaders and strongly believes in oneness of this country.
“The devasting condition of the region as a result of oil exploration and exploitation is grossly incalculable to the degree that the traditional means of survival, such as fishing, farming and other means of survival have gone into extinction without superb government’s intervention for alternative means of survival by the people in the region.
“Niger Delta Coastline Vanguards as we all know is the conglomeration of all the agitators in the states within the coastline of Nigeria.
“We took up a fight against the government, and all other oil companies operating in our territory to do the needful by ameliorating our condition. Our action or act did not only cause loss to the Government but to the oil companies and some other corporate bodies.
“The Government as a result sought for our understanding by calling several meetings through the instrumentally of the Ondo State Government sometime November, 2017 that we should take path of peace in other for the Government to look critically into our yearnings and agitations.
“We agreed to terms by dropping our ammunitions for grant of amnesty on the part of the Government by a way of skill acquisition program, free education and other means of empowerment but to our stupendous surprise Government is yet to fulfill her part of the terms agreed upon.
“Government is continuum and another opportunity to usher in another set of leaders who are to pilot the affairs of the country is far approaching and we have decided not to take a back seat but a front seat by causing our presence to be felt so that our agitations or yearnings against neglect would be timeoulsy attended to.
“The agitators under the leadership of Hon. Omotuwa Job, the Akogun of Etikan Kindgom are basically agitating that the hens that lay the golden eggs should be given what is due for it,” he said.
Omomuwasan disclosed that the group have resolved to assiduously work for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and hence embark on Ten Thousand man walk for him where all thier reasons for supporting and commitment to giving him thousands of votes would be unraveled.
