Ogbuogebe briefs Oyo PCMs, charges them to be instrument of National unity, development



The National Youth Service Corps Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe has charged 2022 Batch C stream ll  Prospective Corps Members deployed to Oyo State and dislodged from Lagos to  renew their faith in Nigeria and help her surmount various challenges by fully contributing their quota towards national development and integration.

She urged them to put together their energies, time and resources to reinvent the Nigeria that we all desire.

Ogbuogebe made this call during her briefing at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Iseyin.

While addressing the Prospective corps members she recalled that the objectives of the Scheme and its goal are tailored at promoting national unity, integration, and promoting peaceful coexistence among people of different ethnic groups,cultures and backgrounds.

She stated that after the civil war that left millions dead and others wounded,there was need for reconciliation ,reconstruction and rehabilitation which led to the establishment of the noble Scheme under decree 24 of 22nd May 1973.

The State Coordinator stated that the three- week Orientation Course would equip them to have a better understanding of the objectives of the Scheme and inculcate in them the spirit of nation building and national consciousness .

She urged them to exhibit team work, discipline, resilience, commitments and patriotism during the  Orientation exercise and throughout their service year.

The SC stressed that the only thing that guarantees their Certificate of National Service is their active participation in the Four Cardinal Programs of the Scheme which are: Orientation, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service and Winding up and Passing out Parade.


" Each program has been  structured to achieve a specific purpose at each stage of your service year"she said .
 She further reiterated that Orientation Camp is regimented, which makes it compulsory for them to adhere strictly to the rules guiding the Orientation Course.

She enjoined the PCMs to make discipline their watch word,  work closely with their Platoon Inspectors and other Camp Officials, be open and receptive to the lectures they would be receiving which are meant to guide them throughout their service year.

Ogbuogebe encouraged them to have good personal hygiene,  disclose their health issues, build good relationships and report any suspicious movement around their hostels, while assuring them of adequate security.

She equally urged the Prospective corps members to embrace Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training that would be introduced to them during the orientation course.

She said it will place them at an advantage of having a means of livelihood while waiting for the desired job openings.

The PCMs were also warned on the wrong use of social media by State Coordinator who urged them to use it to promote outstanding activities of the scheme, improve their personal knowledge and for national unity and development.

She warned them against  involvement in dealing with illicit drugs and other social vices that can bring disgrace to the Scheme. She enjoined them to stay committed and be patriotic to their fatherland .

The SC highlighted the activities of the South West Area Office to the Prospective Corps Members and urged them to go through their Orientation guide for all information required.


At the end of the meeting corps members were refreshed with Predator Malt , sponsored by Coca-cola bottling company Nigeria.
