The Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde has congratulated and felicitated with the Corps members mobilized to Oyo State for the 2023 Batch A stream two orientation course during the Swearing-In ceremony at the Oyo State Permanent Orientation camp,Iseyin.
While delivering his address, the Governor, who was represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Oyo State, Hon. Seun Fakorede commended NYSC for the success in its quest to mitigate the high rate of unemployment bedeviling the country through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED).
He therefore enjoined corps members to embrace the program with all sense of seriousness and equip themselves at no cost with relevant skills.
Mr Governor who described NYSC as an invaluable instrument for National unity, said the Scheme has become an endearing legacy for inculcating in our youth the great value of leadership and national integration.
He asserted that the scheme stands out today as one major national policy that has been accepted as an invaluable instrument for the concretization of the basis of unity, peace, security and strategic stability of the nation.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman Oyo State NYSC Governing Board, Hon.Seun Fakorede who was represented by Alhaja Khadijat Mustapha, encouraged Corps members to consider the orientation camp as a microcosm of Nigeria and urged them to see one another as brothers and sisters.
She urged them to uphold the core values of the orientation course,participate in all camp activities and cohabit peacefully as one indivisible entity.
In the same vein, the State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State, Mr Odoba Abel Oche, attested to the good conduct of Corps members since they reported for the orientation course.
He said “Since these Corps members reported at the orientation camp, they have given a good account of themselves as patriotic Nigerians, they have shown willingness to readily participate fully in this induction course by comporting themselves in a disciplined and matured manner."
He also appreciated the State Government for its goodwill and support for the Scheme in the State.
The Swearing-In ceremony which was presided over by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde also had in attendance, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice Iyabo Yerima, who administered the oath of allegiance on Corps members.Equally present were heads of Federal/ State agencies and parastatals.
