It was an atmosphere filled with pomp and pageantry in Oyo state, as the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Professor Sunday Abayomi Fasina became a fellow of the Horticultural Society of Nigeria.
The epoch making event with the theme "Application of Science, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence in Production and Practices of Horticulture" was held at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, during Horticulture Society of Nigeria's, (HORTSON) 41st annual conference on Wednesday.
The President, Horticultural Society of Nigeria, Professor Rotimi Ipinmoroti while decorating Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina as a fellow of the society, congratulated him for the award, attributing the prestigious award to his performance and achievements.
"This award, presented to Professor Fasina was in recognition
of his doggedness, unbeatable records, and commitment to the development and repositioning of the institution and also for this contribution to society.
In his reactions, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Professor Sunday Abayomi Fasina commended HORTSON for the award, saying the award will Spur him to do more.
Newsline NG however learnt that Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON) which was established in 1977 is a registered society in Nigeria as one of the most respected and influential professional societies for horticultural scientists.
Important dignitaries who graced the occasion included ; President of the Society for Underutilized Legumes, Dr. Adewale, Dr. Opeyemi Osundare, Professor Ayodele Fajinmi, Bishop Kunle Oni, Dr. Adewale Daniel, Dr. Bayeri Samuel, Dr. Odetoye Funke, Dr. Badmus Abimba Dr. Adekoya Medinat Adejoke, Prof. Adeniji Olawale, and Dr. Iduro Olarewaju
Others are, Dr. Lawal Abiodun, Dean, of Student Affairs, Professor Wasiu Ademola Oyedokun-Alli, Deputy Registrar, Mrs Nlessing Eyiolorunpe among others
