Man lands in court over alleged theft of valuables worth millions

The Police on Tuesday, arraigned one Olayiwola Ojo, 25, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly stealing valuables worth millions.

Ojo, whose residential address was not provided, is facing charges of alleged conspiracy, shop breaking and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp  Seye Akinola told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences between Sept. 23, 27 and Oct. 9,  at 1:00 and 2. 00 a.m, at Olodo area, Ibadan.

Akinola alleged that Ojo and others still at large broke into the shop belonging to the complainants,  Mr Victor Adepoju, Maizarat Bello, Ayokunle Adeshina and others at the aforementioned area.

He alleged that the defendant stole valuables such as: phones, generators, power banks and cash worth millions from the victims.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 516, 414 and 390(6) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant,  however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs S. Zubair, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Jan. 9, 2024 for hearing. (NAN)
