The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has praised members of the Steering Committee for showing exemplary attitude towards service delivery at the camp. The State Coordinator expressed this happiness when she presided over the second Steering Committee meeting held at the new OBS Studio of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko. Ani, who said that the successes recorded since the commencement of the course should be a springboard for everyone to put in more efforts so that the key performance indicator will continue to favour the Secretariat. She appealed to all the Heads of Committees to ensure that their subordinates abide by the code of conduct for all camp officials while at the same time urged them to maintain high tempo of discipline. The Morning Meditation of the last day in the month of February 2024 was celebrated specially to acknowledge the presence and hand of God in everything that pertains to NYSC Ondo State. An accomplished administrator who retired as a Deputy Director from the National Youth Service Corps, Mr. Olayiwola Lasaki has warned corps members not to give in to peer pressure as it often leads to regret and shame on the long run. Lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Tuesday, moved a motion to investigate alleged corruption and inefficiency at the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASL) and the National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO) located in Kogi, respectively. Senator Natasha, in her motion, urged the Senate to investigate the affairs of Ajaokuta Steel and NIOMCO between 2008 to date.  She believes that the investigation should uncover the circumstances that led to the re-concession of NIOMCO, as the initial concession agreement was validly terminated by the Yar'adua administration. Youth in southwest Nigeria have called on the national and state assemblies to amend the constitution to allow independent candidature in Nigeria’s election. The youth from Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states made the recommendation in a communiqué issued after the One-Day Youth Forum on Electoral Reform in Akure, organised by The New Generation Girls and Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD) with support from the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
