Ondo State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye has denied ever assaulting journalist working with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),Mr Tayo Ikujuni at the venue of  All Progressives Congress (APC) Congress in Oba -Ile.

Yusuf-Ogunleye said this when he visited the Nigeria Union of  Journalists (NUJ)leadership under comrade Leke Adegbite at the press centre to state his own side of the event that occurred, saying he didn't collect phone from the journalist.

He said he only asked for the identity of the man(journalist) based on information he heard about him and that he walked away from d scene without any further argument when he identified himself as a journalist.

He said that he hold journalists and the profession in high esteem and would not do anything to bring the profession or any of her members to disrepute, less of assaulting them.

Yusuf-Ogunleye said he visited the press centre in accordance with the request of the state NUJ chairman and also apologised to the journalist on behalf of the alleged 'party boys' who might have assaulted the him at the venue, adding that he never ordered anyone to do such in his behalf.

Though! He complained that he was not given fair hearing before going to the press, but still appreciated the union for inviting him and was happy to quickly visit the press centre to resolve the matter.

According to the commissioner, the  issue was resolved by the leadership of the Union while the duo embraced each other.

This is as he noted that the election in Oba Ile was peaceful, free and fair.
