The State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple has directed the medical team from Federal Medical Centre, Owo, who are working with NYSC under the auspices of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to set aside official protocol and see him anytime they have compelling need to do so.
The State Coordinator gave the directive when the team visited to update him on the activities of the Camp Clinic, in his chalet located within the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
The State Coordinator, while urging the team to be more professional in their conduct towards the prospective Corps Members said that all medical issues affecting the Corps Members must be treated with dispatch.
"I want to thank the team for accepting to be part of this orientation course and I need to reiterate that the camp is not designed to accommodate pregnant and nursing mothers as well as persons that require special medical attention. I will be seeking your professional advise all the time and I want you to cooperate with me so that these categories of people when identified, can be released immediately to leave the camp".
He said that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) entered into between National Youth Service Corps and National Health Insurance Authority NHIA subsists that they must work hand in hand with camp administration to avert any medical crisis that is capable of causing chain reactions among the camp community and the outside world.
The NYSC Ondo State boss appealed to the team to get in touch with their medical facility immediately for replenishment as soon as they discover that they are almost out of stock of essential drugs supplied.
"Before the collaboration with National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), NYSC procured essential drugs for the use at the camp clinic while FMC medical team only consulted and administered treatment, but with the memorandum of understanding (MOU), the responsibility of providing the essential drugs, consulting, treatment and management of patients rest solely on your team" he clarified.
In his response, the leader of the medical team from Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Dr. Dare Aderemi said that they have mandate to work closely with the management of NYSC in the state with a view to providing top-notch medical and ancillary services to the prospective Corps Members and camp officials.
Aderemi, who is a Registrar with the Federal Medical Centre promised that the team will not disappoint NYSC management, and added that the camp administration should continue to give them total support and enabling environment to function maximally.
