The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) has issued a response to a misleading report circulating online titled, “ODIRS HR Head, Jemilat Yusuf, Nabbed by Anti-Graft Agency Over Alleged ₦900 Million Fraud. ” ODIRS management firmly asserts that this report is entirely false and misleading, representing a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Service and its dedicated officials. To clarify: No staff member of ODIRS, including Mrs. Jemilat Yusuf, the Head of Human Resources, has been arrested, detained, or investigated by any anti-graft agency for financial misconduct. The allegation of a ₦900 million fraud is completely unfounded and lacks any basis in fact or financial records of the Service. A High court sitting in Okitipupa has nullified the Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy declaration, holding that the State Government had no power to create a new chieftaincy without the consent of the Rebuja of Osooro land, the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in the communities within Osooro land, including Iju-Odo Community. The court declared that the Rebuja of Osooro land is the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in Osooro land and that the State Government has no power to create a new chieftaincy without following due process. In a judgement made available to our correspondent, the court also held that the appointment of the 6th defendant as the Oniju of Iju-Odo was null and void, as it was not done in accordance with the custom and tradition of Iju-Odo.
