Dr Charles Afolabi bags Meritorious Award in Ibadan

The President, Fire academy Nigeria, Dr Charles Israel Afolabi JP. has bagged an Award of Excellence from Hebronlove and care center 2024 

Dr Charles Afolabi was honoured for pioneering and exceptional contribution to issues of ageing and older persons in Nigeria


The event which was held at Nigerian Television Authority Auditorium (NTA) Ibadan was graced by important dignitaries among the likes of Ambassador Yemi Faronbi, and host of others. 

In his reaction, Dr Charles Israel Afolabi while thanking the initiative for the award, promised never to relent in doing what is expected from him as far as older persons in Nigeria is concerned

Court Strikes out Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy Declaration

A High court sitting in Okitipupa has nullified the Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy declaration, holding that the State Government had no power to create a new chieftaincy without the consent of the Rebuja of Osooro land, the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in the communities within Osooro land, including Iju-Odo Community. The court declared that the Rebuja of Osooro land is the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in Osooro land and that the State Government has no power to create a new chieftaincy without following due process.  In a judgement made available to our correspondent, the court also held that the appointment of the 6th defendant as the Oniju of Iju-Odo was null and void, as it was not done in accordance with the custom and tradition of Iju-Odo.
