The Minister of Education, Dr. Tijjani Maarouf Alausa, has applauded the National President of SSANU for his exceptional leadership during his first term in office.
This commendation was made during a recent courtesy visit to the Minister's office. Dr. Alausa praised the President as being remarkable and diplomatic.
During the visit, the Minister urged the Union to exercise patience with the government, assuring them that efforts are being made to address the outstanding issue of withheld salaries.
He disclosed that the budget of fifty billion Naira allocated for the payment of Earn Allowance backlog in 2023 was not rolled over to 2024. Furthermore, Dr. Alausa revealed that a substantial sum of Three hundred billion Naira was earmarked for the Needs Assessment.
In response, the National President of SSANU, Comrade Muhammad Haruna Ibrahim, expressed his appreciation for the Minister's presence at the recent SSANU National delegate conference.
He lauded the Minister's proactive approach in reversing the policy on minimum entry age into Nigerian Universities and reintroducing history into the curriculum. Additionally, Comrade Ibrahim commended Dr. Alausa for his dedication to reconstituting the 2009/FG renegotiation committee.
Comrade Ibrahim also appealed to the Minister to intervene in the FUOYE matter to prevent victimization and ensure peace.
The Minister assured that he would address the issue and emphasized his commitment to collaborating with SSANU to enhance the education sector in Nigeria.
The courtesy visit marks a positive step towards fostering stronger ties between the Ministry of Education and SSANU, with both parties pledging to work together for the advancement of the Nigerian education system.
