Raji, who works at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) in Ibadan on Thursday. Raji spoke in commemoration of the World Kidney Day. He listed the lifestyle modifications to include low salt intake, low fat diets, adequate water intake, regular exercise, fruits and vegetables intake, and adequate control of risk factors such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The State Commander, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Ondo State Command, Mr. Waheed Adegboyega Taiwo has said that his agency owes Nigerians adequate information about the illegality people committed on trafficking. An oil and gas expert, Mr Vincent Ajilo, has urged the Federal Government and investors in the oil and gas sector to embrace alternative crude oil evacuation system to increase oil production in the country. Residents of Eleyewo, Ilu Abo and Bolorunduro, among others, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State are counting their loses after the Monday rain which led to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira. The downpour, which started at about 6:30 pm, wreaked havoc on vehicles, shops and other valuables for hours in the community.  However, no lives have been reportedly lost due to the heavy rainfall. Some of the victims revealed that the rain, which started at a normal rate, grew worse with accompanying winds, eventually turning into a heavy storm, which began blowing off rooftops and destroying anything in its path.  The downpour damaged several houses, shops, church buildings, electric poles, schools, among others. The roof of a community school known as LA primary school, in ilu Abo, was also badly damaged by the rainstorm. Babarinde, of the Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, remarked while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Monday in observance of World Hearing Day. He said many young people were globally at risk of permanent hearing loss due to prolonged exposure to loud music from personal listening devices and noisy environments. According to Babarinde, most of the leading causes of hearing loss in adults include excessive noise exposure, use of ototoxic drugs, ear infections, and ear wax impaction. “Other causes include trauma to the ears, age-related, heredity, and some poorly managed chronic diseases like diabetes, among others,” said the consultant. In fulfilment of his promise to solve the perennial problem of shortage of teachers in public schools in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the employment of a total of 1,010 (one thousand and ten) new teachers for secondary schools in the State.  The Governor's approval came after the completion of the recruitment process by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) which screened thousands of applicants last year. The list of successful candidates will be made public today online and will be displayed at the premises of TESCOM headquarters and zonal offices across the State from tomorrow (Tuesday).
