In line with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to providing potable water for the people of Ondo State, the Ministry of Water Resources, Public Sanitation, and Hygiene has trained officers on the use of water testing kits (Palintest and 6-in-1 pool test strips).
The training, held at the Ondo State Water Corporation laboratory in Akure, was declared open by Mrs. Victoria Adetoye, Administrative Secretary of the Ministry, representing Hon. Ayodele Akande, Commissioner for Water Resources, Public Sanitation, and Hygiene.
The training aims to enhance water quality monitoring and surveillance, identify contaminated water sources,making informed decisions on drinking water safety, monitoring of the effectiveness of water treatment systems, and ultimately reducing waterborne diseases.
Mrs. Adetoye expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing the water testing kits, noting that they would help monitor drinking water quality and reduce waterborne diseases in the state.
Mr. Peter, facilitator and consultant on water testing equipment,who came with his team, explained that the kits test for pH, turbidity, bacteria, and nitrate, enabling users to identify contaminated water sources and make informed decisions about their drinking water.
The training was attended by top management staff from the water sector in the ministry, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring access to safe drinking water for all.
