OSOPADEC Chairman Hails Governor Aiyedatiwa Over Scholarship Scheme

The Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, has expressed his gratitude to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support of the scholarship scheme. 

According to him, "the governor's approval of the 2023/2024 OSOPADEC bursary scheme has demonstrated his commitment to promoting educational development in the oil-producing regions of the state.

"The OSOPADEC scholarship scheme has benefited 4,873 students from Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas, with a total of ₦286.7 million earmarked for disbursement. 

He emphasized that the bursary disbursement reflects the governor's commitment to students' academic advancement and overall welfare.

"The scheme is designed to provide financial relief to students from oil-producing communities, helping to ease the economic burden of higher education.

"The governor's commitment to education is evident in the state government's various initiatives, including the payment of backlog salary arrears for staff of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, and the approval of ₦750 million WAEC fees for 26,088 students in certificate classes across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The chairman however praised the governor for his people-centered leadership and dedication to promoting educational development in the state.



Earlier, The wife of the Ondo state Governor, Mrs. Esther Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, flagged off the scholarship scheme of the State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC),

The flag-off ceremony was held at the Commission’s headquarters in Oba-Ile, Akure the Ondo State capital 



She noted that the initiative reflects Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s people-centered governance, anchored on the OUR EASE policy thrust, which prioritizes education, youth empowerment, healthcare, infrastructure, and security.

She urged the beneficiaries to remain focused and diligent, stressing that government’s investment in their education is a seed for leadership and innovation.
