Oyo Govt Partners AfCFTA to Launch Implementation Strategy

The Oyo State Government, in partnership with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, is set to officially launch the Oyo State Sub-National AfCFTA Implementation Strategy.

The landmark event is scheduled to hold on September 12, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The launch aims to harness the vast potential of the AfCFTA to boost economic growth, create jobs, and increase trade opportunities for Oyo State and Nigeria at large. By strategically implementing the AfCFTA, the state government seeks to attract investments, enhance competitiveness, and improve the business environment.

The event will be graced by prominent figures, including Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, who will serve as the Chief Host. Ms. Neo Theodore Tlhaselo, Special Adviser on International Trade and AfCFTA, will also be present, alongside His Excellency Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat - African Union, who will co-host the event.

Newsline NG learnt that The Oyo State Sub-National AfCFTA Implementation Strategy is designed to ensure the effective utilization of the trade agreement to drive economic development. The strategy will outline key areas of focus, including trade facilitation, investment promotion, and capacity building.

The successful implementation of the AfCFTA is expected to have a significant impact on Oyo State's economy, including increased access to new markets, improved competitiveness, and enhanced economic growth.
