BINTA Fashion hosts NFF, Receives Chairman's Endorsement

Nigerian heritage fashion brand, BINTA Fashion, has received a major boost in its growing international profile following its presentation to the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, during the Super Eagles' visit to Warsaw ahead of their international friendly match against Poland.

The presentation took place during a courtesy visit to the Super Eagles' hotel in Warsaw and was attended by officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Poland, representatives of DiasporaEvents, and executives of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Poland (NIDOP). 

The delegation presented a specially curated BINTA Fashion gift box to the NFF Chairman on behalf of the Nigerian community in Poland

The gift package featured a handcrafted adire jersey and a reversible ankara-adire tote bag, showcasing the richness of Nigeria's indigenous textile heritage and the creativity of Nigerian designers operating on the global stage.

Receiving the gift, Alhaji Gusau commended the initiative and described it as a significant cultural contribution by Nigerians living abroad. 


He further noted that such efforts deserve recognition from relevant authorities in Nigeria, stating that the Federal Ministry of Culture should be made aware of the brand's achievements and its role in promoting Nigerian culture internationally.

The endorsement represents a significant milestone for BINTA Fashion, which recently celebrated its first anniversary in Poland.

Founded on May 25, 2025, in Warsaw by Nigerian entrepreneur and cultural advocate, Olorunfemi Joshua Akuruyejo, BINTA Fashion is a ready-to-wear heritage fashion brand dedicated to showcasing African textiles such as adire, ankara, and aso-oke to a global audience. Operating under the slogan, "Wear Your Heritage Everywhere," the brand seeks to make African fashion accessible and relevant to fashion enthusiasts across Europe and beyond.

What makes the brand particularly unique is its commitment to local production. All BINTA Fashion products are manufactured in Nigeria by the founder's family, whose decades of experience in fashion design have helped preserve traditional craftsmanship while adapting it to modern fashion trends.

Within just one year of operation, BINTA Fashion has expanded its reach beyond Poland, attracting customers from Nigeria, Ireland, and Germany. The brand has also featured on four fashion runways, appeared in two publications, and participated in several academic and cultural conferences across Poland.

The company has continued to gain recognition for its contributions to cultural promotion and creative entrepreneurship. Among its notable achievements is a Certificate of Recognition awarded by the Rector of UMCS Lublin in acknowledgement of the brand's efforts in promoting African culture through fashion.

BINTA Fashion also served as the official styling partner for the after-party organised by DiasporaEvents following the Nigeria-Poland friendly match, further strengthening its visibility among members of the Nigerian diaspora and international guests.

The brand is regarded as the first known African heritage ready-to-wear fashion label with a physical presence in Poland, a feat that highlights the growing influence of Nigerian entrepreneurs abroad.



Speaking on the milestone, founder Olorunfemi Joshua Akuruyejo reflected on the brand's journey and the significance of the recognition received from the NFF Chairman.

"I started BINTA one year ago in Warsaw with zero experience, a bolt of fabric and a dream to make African heritage wearable everywhere. To stand in front of the NFF Chairman today, on behalf of the Nigerian community in Poland, and to hear him say the Ministry of Culture should be aware of this initiative — I could not have written a better first chapter," he said.

"This is bigger than fashion. This is about what Nigerians in the diaspora are building every day, quietly and with purpose."



The recognition of BINTA Fashion during the Super Eagles' visit underscores the growing role of Nigerians in the diaspora in promoting the nation's culture, creativity, and economic potential on the global stage while strengthening ties between Nigeria and its citizens abroad.

Court Strikes out Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy Declaration

A High court sitting in Okitipupa has nullified the Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy declaration, holding that the State Government had no power to create a new chieftaincy without the consent of the Rebuja of Osooro land, the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in the communities within Osooro land, including Iju-Odo Community.
