The Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Mr. Mufutau Adesina Ibrahim, has underscored the importance of digital transformation in enhancing administrative efficiency and advancing the University's vision of becoming a digitally driven and entrepreneurially oriented institution.
He made this known during a training workshop themed "Digitalization and Administrative Efficiency," held at the University Registry.
Declaring the workshop open, Ibrahim welcomed administrators and resource persons to what he described as a timely and significant capacity-building programme.
According to him, "This workshop aligns with the vision and mission of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, whose administration is committed to transforming the University through digital innovation and technology-driven processes."
Mr. Ibrahim emphasized that administrators have a crucial role to play in ensuring the successful realization of this vision and urged participants to pay close attention to the resource persons in order to maximize the benefits of the training.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), FUOYE Branch, Dr. Dominic Olugbamiye, described digitalization as one of the most significant developments shaping contemporary university administration.
He noted that the rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed how institutions operate, communicate, manage information, and deliver services.
Dr. Olugbamiye stated that the University Registry occupies a strategic position in university administration, serving as the hub for records management, policy implementation, admissions administration, staff matters, and governance processes.
He maintained that embracing digitalization is essential for improving efficiency, transparency, accountability, and service delivery within the university system.
The ANUPA Chairman encouraged participants to actively engage in the training sessions, share experiences, ask questions, and take advantage of the opportunity for professional development.
He also expressed appreciation to the University Management, facilitators, organizers, and other stakeholders for supporting the initiative, describing their commitment to capacity building and professional excellence as commendable.
Presenting a paper on behalf of the Registrar, the Deputy Registrar and Administrative Secretary of the College of Medicine, Mr. Olusola Taiwo, delivered a lecture titled "Digitalization and Administrative Efficiency in 21st-Century Universities."
He highlighted the transformative role of digital technologies in university administration, stressing that digitalization would significantly reduce manual processes and human errors, improve staff productivity, accelerate decision-making, enhance records management, and strengthen registry operations, examination administration, and transcript processing.
According to him, the adoption of integrated digital systems would position FUOYE among modern and globally competitive universities.
Mr. Taiwo further noted that digitalization has become a strategic necessity rather than an option, serving as a catalyst for improved service delivery, institutional effectiveness, staff performance, and overall university ranking.
He recommended continuous staff training, knowledge sharing, the provision of adequate digital infrastructure, and alignment with the University's long-term strategic objectives.
Other resource persons also delivered insightful presentations during the workshop. Mr. Mashood Oseni presented a paper on the use of Google Forms and Microsoft applications for administrative tasks and presentations, while Mr. Usman Emmanuel Adohoje, Principal Assistant Registrar in the Vice-Chancellor's Office, spoke on the technicalities involved in the effective use of Microsoft Word.
Similarly, Mr. Ayo Afeni delivered a presentation on the practical application of Microsoft Excel in administrative duties.
