The circumstances surrounding the death of Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, have taken a new twist following an allegation by her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, that she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Onadeko made the claim during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, the media investigative unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, where he also addressed several allegations surrounding the actress’ final days.
The prophet, who is the Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Onibuore Cathedral, Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki, said he received a phone call from an unidentified person around midnight informing him that Osoba had died at a police station in Ikorodu.
He, however, said he did not know the exact police station where the actress allegedly died but reported himself at a nearby station after receiving the information.
According to Onadeko, Osoba had earlier expressed her intention to visit a woman identified as Mrs Kehinde Osoba, who he said also runs a church. He added that the actress went there with a hairdresser at whose residence she had been staying.
He said they remained in communication until he later received the news of her death.
The allegation has added another dimension to the controversy surrounding Osoba’s death, coming amid various reports and social media claims about her health and treatment before her passing.
Osoba had previously spoken publicly about her battle with breast cancer, including the treatment and surgery she underwent. In 2024, she announced her return to the public after recovering from the experience, describing the period as one that brought healing, growth and empowerment.
However, Onadeko insisted that the actress’ previous battle with cancer was not responsible for her death.
Recalling her treatment, he said he met Osoba about two years ago and supported her during the period she was preparing for cancer surgery.
He also denied allegations that he had access to funds donated to the actress for her medical treatment or that he diverted the money to develop his church.
According to him, donations made to Osoba, including assistance reportedly offered by businessman Mike Adenuga, were paid into her own account.
He further maintained that his church had been established long before he met the actress and therefore denied claims that funds raised for her treatment were used for its construction.
Onadeko also rejected claims that Osoba was prevented from driving her car, saying she personally drove the vehicle when she travelled to Iperu shortly before her death.
He said the actress had expressed reservations about visiting her maternal relatives because she felt they had not treated her well. However, he said he encouraged her to maintain contact with her family because they were planning to get married.
The prophet also disclosed that Osoba had struggled with smoking, saying he had encouraged her to stop and that members of the church were aware of the habit.
He equally denied allegations that the actress was maltreated before her death, including claims that she was subjected to degrading treatment over an alleged incident involving biscuits.
Onadeko said there was no period when Osoba was subjected to duress while they lived together, adding that they occasionally borrowed money from each other and jointly managed their finances.
He explained that the house where Osoba lived belonged to her uncle and was not a rented apartment. He added that after her surgery, the actress gave her uncle N1 million after he requested some compensation for allowing her to stay in the house.
The prophet further dismissed claims that Osoba consumed poison before her death.
He said the actress had left the church about three weeks before her death and that he contacted one of her uncles, identified as Taiwo, after learning of her passing.
According to him, the uncle was angry with him and declined to speak with him about the matter.
Osoba died on Wednesday at the age of 40 and is expected to be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
However, the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.
The allegation that Osoba died at a police station, as well as the other claims and denials made by her fiancé, had not been independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
The exact cause and circumstances of the actress’ death therefore remain subject to further clarification from the police, her family and other relevant authorities.
