A community leader, Basorun Olugbenga Fajana, has congratulated a renowned administrator, intellectual and historian, Mr. Ayo Fajana, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing him as an illustrious son of Ado-Ekiti whose contributions to Yoruba history, culture and intellectual development remain remarkable.
Basorun Fajana who also doubles as the Chairman of Sofaj Group of Companies, Abuja, in a congratulatory message issued to celebrate the birthday anniversary, extolled the virtues, accomplishments and personality of the celebrant, noting that Ayo Fajana had distinguished himself through his administrative experience, intellectual depth and passion for preserving the history and cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
According to him, Ayo Fajana, who hails from Owa Akinla in Odo Ado, Ado-Ekiti, has continued to make significant contributions to the documentation and promotion of Yoruba history and traditions through his writings and other intellectual engagements.
He described the celebrant as a “cynosure of all eyes,” whose wealth of knowledge, wisdom and commitment to the preservation of Yoruba heritage have earned him respect among people within and outside Ado-Ekiti.
Basorun Fajana further highlighted Mr. Ayo Fajana's close relationships with prominent personalities, including the renowned legal luminary, Chief Afe Babalola, and the Ooni of Ife, stressing that such relationships reflected the high regard and respect he commands among influential figures.
He said the celebrant's association with notable traditional and intellectual figures had also provided opportunities for him to contribute meaningfully to conversations surrounding Yoruba history, culture, tradition and the development of society.
The community leader particularly commended Ayo Fajana for his dedication to writing and documenting Yoruba stories, describing his literary and historical works as valuable contributions to the preservation of the identity, heritage and collective memory of the Yoruba people.
He noted that at a time when younger generations were becoming increasingly detached from traditional history and cultural values, the efforts of individuals like Ayo Fajana were important in ensuring that the stories, traditions and experiences of the Yoruba people were not lost.
Basorun Fajana also acknowledged the support and companionship of the celebrant's wife, Dr. Theresa Bosede Fajana, describing her as an important part of his journey and accomplishments.
He prayed that God would continue to grant Mr. Ayo Fajana good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of fulfilment, while wishing him greater accomplishments in the years ahead.
