The inaugural sitting of the Ondo State election petition tribunal holds today. The tribunal is headed by Justice Umar Abubakar. He is leading two other Justices to hear the petition filed by Eyitayo Jegede, SAN against Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN who was declared winner of the October 10, 2020 Election by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Dissatisfied with the outcome of the election, the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Eyitayo Jegede approached the tribunal . The grounds of the petition filled by Jegede include that; 1. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was not validly nominated by his party APC. By the provisions of section 183 of the 1999 Constitution, a serving Governor of a State (in this case, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni) can not serve as the National Chairman of APC at the same time to nominate Akeredolu as Candidate of their Party for the Ondo Elections.      Justice Olusegun Odusola of the Ondo state High Court in Akure has sentenced the founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa and Five others to life imprisonment. This follows the disappearance of one-year-old, Gold Kolawole in the church last year November. Justice Odusola convicted the defendants having found them guilty of the two count charge of kidnapping and aiding and abetting to kidnap based on the circumstantial evidence presented by the prosecution. The trial judge also condemned in strong terms the complicity, compromise, and lackadaisical attitude of the Ondo state police command after Gold got missing which also led the burning of Sotitobire Church.    Justice Olusgeun Odusola has struck out an application by counsel to founder of sotitobire praising chapel Akure, Olusola Oke seeking to vacate his order that he should be investigated. The judge at last sitting had ruled that Mr Oke be investigated by the Department of State Services, DSS following some allegations raised by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adekola Olawoye. Justice Odusola however at today’s sitting struck out the application dated 29 September 2020 after Mr Banjo Ayenakin who stood in for Olusola Oke moved a motion for adjournment of hearing of the application to enable him file his counter affidavit to the state’s reply. State counsel, John Joshua dada said he was ready with the case, but Mr Ayenakin insisted on an adjournment and withdrew from the case when the judge did not budge on his request. Judgment will be delivered tomorrow in the trial of founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa and six other church members over the disappearance of one year old Gold Kolawole in the church last year. A notice of judgement exclusively obtained by OSRC revealed that judgement will be delivered by 9am. The state attorney general and commissioner for justice, Adekola Olawoye confirmed that Justice Olusegun Odusola will deliver judgement on Tuesday 6th  Oct 2020 at 9am.

The Ondo State Customary Court of Appeal sitting at Oke- Eda, in Akure  has upheld the September 30, 2019 judgement of a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Odigbo, delivered in a land dispute situated at Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. The Appeal Court presided over by Justice Eunice Aderonke Alade with Justice Christy Titilayo Adesola-Ikpati and Justice Akinfemi Micheal Owoyemi, as members, affirmed the verdict of the lower court and  dismissed the appeal brought before it for lack of merit .
