By Kayode Afolabi Governor Seyi Makinde has affirmed that his convoy was not involved in any motor accident.  Makinde made this known on his official Facebook page today.  The statement reads in part "I received with deep concern the report that my convoy ran over a child on our way to Ogbomoso earlier today.  "Our preliminary investigation revealed that the child was hit by an individual driving a Toyota Matrix car who lost control of his vehicle. He was not part of my convoy. "My heartfelt condolences go out to the parents of the child.  "May her gentle soul rest in peace.  He however ensure that perpetrator(s)  will be brought to book as investigations are ongoing. 

The Government of Oyo State has announced Friday, May 21, 2021, as public holiday. A statement by Mr. Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, confirmed that the governor approved the holiday to enable the state conduct a hitch free local government election holding on Saturday, May 22, 2021. The statement urged every resident of Oyo State to go about their duties peacefully, while coming out en masse to their respective voting areas and participate in the election. The working visit of the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani on assumption of duties recently to the Federal Controller, Works, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing is yielding positive results. During the said visit, the State Coordinator made a passionate appeal to the Federal Controller, Works on the need to construct speed breakers at the entrance so that motorists would be alerted to reduce their speed when approaching the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko. IFAD Coordinator in the state, Mr Adewale Ademola, disclosed this at the IFAD/FGN/NDDC/Livelihood Improvement Family Entreprises-Niger Delta (Life-ND) project, held at Bolorunduro village, Akure North Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that IFAD, in collaboration with other partners, is engaging the communities in cocoa and cassava production as well as poultry and fishery. Ademola said that the programme was aimed at training young people called ‘incubatees’ in rural communities and getting them acquainted with agricultural value chain. A young couple, Ekene Ijokun, 40 and Rose Ijokun, 32, are now in trouble after engaging in a fisticuffs which led to the death of their two weeks old baby at Eleyowo community, in Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State. The Hope Metro gathered that the community was thrown into pandemonium during the fight. The wife had strapped their two weeks old baby at her back during the brawl. It was alleged that Ekene was always beating his wife during pregnancy. This time around, they got into their usual argument that lead to a fight. The Ogeloyinbo of Aiyetoro Community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Micah Olaseni Ajijo, has called on both Federal and Ondo State governments, all meaningful Nigerians as a matter of urgency to come to their rescue over the incessant sea incursion in the area.
