Uproar in Ondo community over mysterious death of motorcyclist

A man believed to be 27-year-old, simply identified as Paul, has been accused of killing his friend, Shuaibu Haruna, who both resided in Akungba, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.  The incident, which  happened yesterday, triggered unrest as vicious mob thronged Akungba Police facility where Paul was kept for safety after his arrest.  It was learnt that trouble started when Paul was sighted on Tuesday night after he had asked Haruna to accompany him to an undisclosed place, but he didn't return home with the deceased.  A source who revealed that Paul came back home on Tuesday night with the intention to abscond the next morning, had confided in his wife that his friend had been killed by unknown kidnappers.  The source who preferred anonymity added that the wife hinted her mother-in-law about the plot, and the matter was immediately reported at the Police station. It is with a heart full of praises and gratitude that I warmly felicitate with the entire Staff and Students of our fastest-growing Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State,and the general public on the commemoration of this year's Christmas celebration. The essence of Christmas is to reflect on  the humble birth of Jesus Christ whose birth had continued to be a source of inspiration and salvation to humanity. As we mark this day, I beseech all and sundry to reach out and lend support to the needy and  less privileged in our own little way in our neighbourhood as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ. Ondo: Police apprehend Man with fresh human head

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested  a 55 year old man, Tunde Olaiwola with fresh human head in Ondo . He was paraded alongside 8 others suspects arrested for various criminal offences ranging from murder,  kidnapping and cultism. While parading the suspects, the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Oyeyemi Oyediran, said the  cleric was apprehended at Ajagbale Area of Oka, Ondo town. He said:  "On the 23rd of December, 2021, at about 0920hrs, the Police received an information that a self acclaimed cleric named Alfa Tunde Olayiwola, a suspected ritualist was about to receive a consignment suspected to be a Human head. Ile Oluji: Appeal Court fixes January 17 for hearing of monarch's qualification for the throne

                        The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure has fixed January 17 for the hearing of the suit challenging the qualification of Oba Oluwole Adetimehin Olufaderin for the throne of Jegun of Ile-Oluji in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government area of Ondo State. The hearing of the appeal was coming five years after the first class monarch was installed as Jegun of Ile-Oluji to replace Oba Stephen Adedugbe who joined his ancestors early in 2015. The appeal was also coming after two years an Akure High Court dismissed the suit challenging the installation of the monarch over the failure to file the suit 21 days after the appointment had been made and for the failure of the applicants to pay N100.000.00 as security before such an action can be instituted. Sweet Steve: Colleagues, friends remember late broadcaster with donation to 'The Ark Children Home'

Two years after his tragic demise in a fatal accident along the Akure Ondo road, colleagues and friends of late broadcaster, Oluwafemi Sotonwa popularly known as Sweet Steve have remembered him with an outreach to a shelter, The Ark Children Home. During the outreach to the Shelter at Ikota in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state, food items donated include a bag of rice, cartons of noddles, macaroni toiletries, pampers and soft drinks.  The train which included many on-air-personalities, and entertainers in the state was led by the Chief Operations Officer of  Crest FM, Mr Adeolu Gboyega. Speaking during the presentation of the  items, Mr Gboyega said the gesture made possible through the widowsmite of the late broadcaster's friends is to  keep alive his memory. FG Declares Public Holidays For Christmas, New Year Celebrations

The federal government of Nigeria has declared Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th December 2021 and Monday, 3rd January 2022 as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year Day celebrations respectively. Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the announcement in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, on Wednesday morning. “We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace and righteousness, that His birth signifies. “This will be the best way to portray Christ and celebrate his birth,” part of the statement by the Ministry of Interior reads. Christmas Day (December 25) is a public holiday in many countries. It is celebrated religiously by a majority of Christians. On the other hand, January 1 is the first day of the year in the Gregorian Calendar. This day is known as New Year’s Day since it marks the beginning of the year.

AAUA: Prof. Olugbenga Ige recieves Outstanding Pillar of Education Award

The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, on Sunday received Sunshine Standard Magazine award as the ‘Outstanding Pillar of Education/Role Model in Ondo State He was honoured at this years edition of the Public Lecture /Award programme of the Sunshine Standard Magazine held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, in Akure.  The Publisher of the Magazine, Mr. Oludaisi Adetarami, said, We periodically organize public lectures and give awards to very outstanding individuals and institutions whose impact have been very remarkable and vastly different in scale in terms of adding value to society and our shared humanity."
