Obaship Tussle: Council of Elders write Aiyedatiwa over looming crisis in Ondo community

Crisis appears to be looming in Etikan kingdom in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State over a purported plan to install a new traditional ruler in Ereke community in allegedly against a court order. The Akinrogun and Aare of Etikan, Chief Monday Oyetakin and High Chief Bode Ojabogun respectively raised the alarm in a statement jointly signed on behalf of the Council of Elders, youths and residents of the community on Thursday in Igbokoda. Consequently, the chieftains have warned the state government to avert crisis by respecting the order of the court restraining it from presenting a staff of office to the new traditional ruler. Kolawole of an Akure High Court had, in a ruling delivered on July 1, ordered a stay of action on the presentation of staff of office to the Oba-elect of the community. OSOPADEC will invest in corps members welfare --- Executive Secretary

The Executive Secretary of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, has assured the NYSC management that it would prioritise the welfare of corps members posted to the Commission. The Executive Secretary gave the assurance when she hosted the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple at the Commission's Administrative Headquarters at Oba-Ile, in the outskirts of the state capital.  The Administrative Head of the Commission said that OSOPADEC is entrusted with the responsibility of socio-economic welfare of the mandate areas and intervenes in the development of oil producing and impacted communities in Ondo State. According to her, the Commission continually seeks to improve access and quality of education of mandate areas by executing programmes to further strengthen and increase the teaching workforce. Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure have begun the Governor Douye Diri Pre-season tournament with a 1-0 victory over the hosts, Bayelsa United. The Owena Whales were in control of the encounter, displaying football artistry at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. Sunshine Stars' new signing, Ismail Ayodele, terrorised the hosts with his eyes on goal throughout the match, wasting no time to score in the 35th minute. Bayelsa United almost immediately pushed for an equaliser that never came. A superb header was saved by Sunshine Stars' goalkeeper, Emmanuel Ofori, who was well positioned to deny the hosts from getting a leveler before the half time. The second half produced no further goals, with both sides pushing for attacking football.
