All suspected Coronavirus cases in Ondo State are negative----Health Commissioner

Twelve suspected cases of coronavirus pandemic which are newly discovered in Ondo state have tested negative. To this end, the state government announced that the state is still free from the COVID-19 pandemic. The samples of the test took to Lagos had turned out negative. This was the outcome of the meeting between the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, (SAN) and the State Interministerial Committee on COVID-19. The Inter Ministerial Committee chaired by the Honourable Commissioner for Health Dr Wahab Adegbenro at a joint press conference with the commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, reiterated that vigilance and strict adherence to global best practices were the only antidote to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Dr Adegbenro said the state has remained negative to the corovarius scourge including the alleged case at Agadagba-Obon in EseOdo Local Government Area of the State.

LOVERS DROWNED IN ADO EKITI

It was a sad scenario in Ekiti State as lovers were said to have drowned in the s tate capital.  A young man and a lady suspected to be lovers have been drowned in the popular Ureje Dam, monitored by the Ekiti State Water Corporation, Ado Ekiti. As at the time of this report, the identity of the man is unknown but the lady is said to be a resident of Bamgboye street, a community close to the dam. It was gathered that the incident happened at about six o’clock in the evening of Sunday while the deceased attempted to evade arrest by police. Report says various gangs of young men and women often visit the dam side to swim and also engage in various immoral activities such as smoking of hemp, prostitution and even initiation. Two kidnapped Footballers regain freedom in Ondo

Two footballers from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) who are kidnapped on Sunday have regained their freedom.  The footballers namely, Ekundayo Ojo from Enyimba fc and Benjamin Iluyomade from Abia Comets’ regained thier freedom after paying undisclosed ransom The gunmen were said to have received huge ransom before setting them free. The footballers were released on Wednesday night following combined efforts of Enyimba Football Club , security agents and families of the players. The Two-time CAF Champions League champions, Enyimba International have confirmed his release in its Twitter handle. In regard to the decisions of the Ondo State Executive Council meeting of Monday, 23rd March, 2020, to stem the tide of the rampaging COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN has ordered the immediate closure of all markets, malls and shops across the State. Under this fresh directive which is for a period of 7 days in the first instance, only the sale of life-saving and sustaining items like food, water and medicals shall be allowed. Similarly, Governor Akeredolu reiterates that the suspension political gatherings and meetings is still in force. In this regard, any form of open campaign for the forthcoming Local Government Election in the State should be discontinued for the meantime. Man dies of new virus called 'Hantavirus' in China

 A man has died in Yunnan province of China after testing positive to Hantavirus. The man died while on his way back to Shandong Province for work on a chartered bus, China’s Global Times reports. Hantavirus immediately became a trend on social media following the report with people panicking that it was another COVID-19 ready to cause a new pandemic. However, unlike coronavirus, hantavirus is not airborne. Humans who contract the hantavirus usually come into contact with rodents that carry the virus. “Rodent infestation in and around the home remains the primary risk for hantavirus exposure. Even healthy individuals are at risk for HPS infection if exposed to the virus,” Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said in its website. Suleiman Achimugu, The First Person To Die Of Coronavirus In Nigeria

A former Managing Director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Suleiman Achimugu, has died of Coronavirus. Achimugu, who returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom two weeks ago, started showing symptoms of the virus last Tuesday, according to findings by SaharaReporters. He eventually died around 2:00am on Monday after coughing severely on Sunday. A family source told our correspondent  that officials of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control were informed of his situation and even took his blood sample for testing but they never got back to his family until he died overnight. Woman, 4 Dealers kidnapped in Ondo

Four men who are known to be timber dealers and a woman have been kidnapped at the boundary town of Ikakumo Akoko, near Akoko Edo local government area of Edo state . One of them, Samuel Obadofin , is a native of Akunu in Akoko northeast council area of Ondo State. According to a community leader from Akunu Akoko, mr Michael Bello, the men who were sawmillers were kidnapped from the forest where their timber lorry broke down . The police area commander for Ikare Akoko Assistant commissioner of police Razak Rauf said the area of incident was not within the jurisdiction of Ondo state police command. The regent of Akunu Akoko ,princess Tola Orogun expressed sadness over increasing rate of kidnap cases around Akunnu and appealed to authorities to save the community from such ugly development

Prophet Sotitobire rushed to Hospital after allegedly poisoning self inside Akure Prison

An Unconfirmed report indicates that the founder of Sotitobire Miracle centre, Prophet Babatunde Alfa was alleged to have poisoned himself in an attempt to commit suicide at the Nigerian correctional center ,Olokuta ,Ondo state. According to reports,  the  incident occurred on Thursday shortly after he was taken back to the correctional center from the Ondo state high court where his trial over the missing child inside his church is taking place . It was gathered that the prophet swallowed “rat poison” but after it was discovered, the prison officers rushed him to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. Our correspondent also gathered that prophet Alfa is now responding to treatment. Father tortures Two Children with Hot Iron

Two children at Ijesamodu in Ilejemeje local government area of Ekiti state have been tortured with hot iron by their father Mr Olanrewaju Babatunde. This left the children who are two and seven years old with serious injuries. Our correspondent  is yet to ascertain the offense of the children as at the time of this publication. The eyes of the youngest victim was badly damaged as a result of injury sustained from the hot iron. When taken to the general hospital in Ijesamodu Ekiti by some good Samaritans, the children were rejected due to the degree of the injury sustained and later referred to Federal Medical Centre Ido Ekiti where they are currently receiving treatment on the bill of wife of the state governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi. Sotitobire founder sent back to prison till thursday

Prophet Alfa Babatunde, founder of the Sotitobire Miracle centre was today sent back to Olokuta Correctional centre till Thursday for continuation of his case. He was arraigned before Justice Olusegun Odusola who refused to grant his bail application sought by the defence counsel, Mr. Olusola Oke. The prosecuting team from the state ministry of justice led by the Attorney-General, Mr. Kola Olawoye esq. presented two witnesses, including the mother of the missing child, out of the seven prosecution witnesses. After much argument, the case was adjourned till Thursday 19th March 2020 for case continuation, while the accused persons were returned to the prison custody.

Armed Security Operatives Surround Court Premises As Prophet Sotitobire’s Case Continues

Armed police men on Monday beefed up security at the Ondo state high court premises following the continuation of the case involving the founder of Sotitobire Miracle center ,Prophet Babatunde Alfa and six others over the missing of a one year old boy inside his church last year. Our correspondent reports that the security men who manned strategic locations within and outside the court allowed only those who have official business to gain entrance The high court road is also filled with residents of akure as well as followers of Prophet Alfa who hanged on the fence to watch as event unfold in the court. Wife killed by Policeman in Ondo

  Police Command in Ondo State, has launched investigation into the circumstances that led to sudden death of a policeman simply identified as Tolulope and his wife who were found dead inside their living room. The incident occurred at Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday, while the late policeman was attached to the Akungba police division until his death. A loud bang was heard from their apartment before their corpses were found. Witnesses told SUNSHINETRUTH that the policemen shot his wife dead before killing himself over alleged infidelity. It was learnt that Tolutope committed the crime after he returned from the work.
