"I have a feeling that bad things will happen in the forthcoming Ondo Local Government election"
A Chairmanship candidate in Akoko South west local government, under the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Barr. Alaba Peter, made this known to newsmen ahead of the Ondo State state local government election slated for Aug 22, in a group interview today.
Alaba noted that erstwhile chairmen of the commission followed due process by observing the election within 3 weeks, which had been the conventional process from time immemorial.
He stated further by alleging that the election has been slated since 2018 which a time-table was drawn, and was not reversed hitherto.
His words: "A time-table was drawn in 2018 for the election, the greatest surprise is that with thier unseriouness, they still went ahead to use the time-table of 2018 without withdrawing it from public domain.
"The question is that are we in 2018? Why didn't they withdraw the time table and unveil a fresh one"
The legal luminarian stated that All Progressives Congress (APC) should be barred from participating in the local government election.
He said there is an ongoing case in the court of law which is aimed at stopping APC from participating, adding that Otetubi led Exco of the APC incurred an interim order stopping Adetimehin led Exco from presenting list of names to ODIEC in 2018.
He added that if the awaiting judgment doesn't favor ADC, then law will be tested further.
The candidate also called on the security agencies to the needful by being Vigilance, adding that the previous assembly election in the state was a vivid epitome.
He, also appeals to the electorates to erase from their minds, the perspective that local government election is a state election, urging them to troop out in masses by voting thieir preferred candidates.
However, the stated that the ODIEC chairman is not competent and inconsistent because the election should have been held in 2018, alleging that ODIEC is an extension of the ruling Government.
