Youths in Ore town, headquarters of Odigbo local government area of Ondo state, have debunked alleged imposition of new regent on the people of the community.
The youths under the aegis of Ore Community Youth Development Association (OCYDA) also described it as a blatant lie and false allegation made by some people over the continuous in the delay of installing new regent for the community.
It could be recall that some non existing group of people, claiming to be from the town, lead by one Adeyemi Adebayo, had addressed a Press Conference in Akure, alleging the management of Odigbo local government of using delay tactics in appointing a new regent for the community.
The self-acclaimed and faceless group also alleged the kingmaker and other notable Chiefs in the town of imposing another person as the regnant of the town.
In a letter dated 19th of September 2020, written by OCYDA, the apex and umbrella body of all associations in Ore town, the letter jointly signed by the General Secretary, Mr. Gbenga Adetunji and other three executive members of the association, described the publications as false and not emanating from the youths of the town.
The association also described those who claimed to be the sponsored of the publication as non existing people in the community and their claims is not in line with the traditional norms of the town.
The OCYDA while exonerating the Chairman of Odigbo local government, Hon. Margaret Akinsuroju on the alleged imposition or delay in the appointing a new regent in Ore town, however reiterated the readiness of the people of the town to continue in supporting the council boss and ensure the success of her administration in the local government.
The group also described the Lisa of the town Chief David Ijiniga as an aged person and not qualify to be the regent of the town as he was not duly installed by the late monarch of the town Oba Johnson olatomide.
The OCYDA also explained that Chief Ijiniga was only one of the aspirants to be Lisa of Ore town and was not given traditional totem and certificate as the second in command in the chieftaincy hierarchy of the town.
The letter read in parts, "Chief Ijiniga was only one of the candidate jostling for the position of Lisa of Ore, he was not install, before the death of Oba Johnson Olatomide, however, how can somebody who was not given traditional totem and not officially instal now want to become regent.
"Ijiniga, apart from being an aged person, he was not install before the death of our late monarch, he is not qualified to be our regent, we have other young and able High Chiefs who are duly installed and recognized by the government who can be our can our regent"
They however described the leader of the faceless people Mr. Adeyemi Adebayo as a suspect who is currently being interrogated by the Ore Area Command of Nigeria Police, over allegation of breach of peace and defamation.
They however reiterated the readiness of the OCYDA, to continue in maintaining peace and harmony in the town, however assured the government and the people of the community on the continuous prevailing peace and harmony in the town.
While describing members of the OCYDA as non political association, but assured the government of the continuous support of the people of the town and assure the success of Governor Rotimi Aketedolu during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo state.
