As the October 10th governorship election in the state wears a new gear in Ondo State, African Democratic Congress (ADC) today declared its suport today for the incumbent Governor and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN in the forthcoming Governorship election
This was made as against the permutation of many political analysts who had predicted otherwise, about the forthcoming election.
The ADC leaders, led by the member representing Ondo West and Ondo East in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Abiola Makinde, said history would not be kind to them if they allow Ondo state to fall back into the hands of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) or the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), whom they tagged as "leagues of Locusts and Golgotha
Akeredolu, Makinde, alongside two of his top associates, Hon. Wale Akinlosotu and Dr. Femi Obama, at a rally presented the twenty -two Ward chairmen and Fifty-four local government executive memberz of the ADC in Ondo West and East to the Governor to show their seriousness.
They assured that the people of Ondo East and Ondo West are solidly behind Akeredolu and they will re-elect him for another term in Office.
"We won't allow Ondo fall into the Golgotha; Akeredolu is a pathfinder. Your opponents are leagues of the locust. Akeredolu has achieved in less than four years what some people could not achieve in eight years.
"We call Akeredolu a pathfinder because he is very detribalised in terms of distribution of resources. From the North to the South and here in the Central, his projects are legendary. By the grace of God, we will deliver Ondo West and East for the APC on October 10th."
Recieving the ADC members into the APC was the party chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, who in turn, handed them over to Akeredolu.
Adetimehin, who could not hide his excitement, said “there are three political parties in Ondo town. The APC, ADC and ZLP. But today, ADC is declaring support for the APC. We are one. This shows that no one can beat the APC in Ondo town.”
In his remarks, an excited Akeredolu said the APC is now sure of victory across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
He further said "I am a Democrat. The people are the ultimate in a democracy. My strength is in the people, hence, my decison never to take the welfare of the people for granted. Please, be rest assured, that I won't take your suport for granted if you renew your social contract with me."
