The Ondo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has charged the COVID -19 Monitoring/Enforcement Committee to enforce protocol on Coronavirus pandemic based on principle and not sentiment.
The State Coordinator made the charge when she inaugurated the Committee at a brief meeting presided over by her.
Mrs. Ani said that the rigid and uncompromising enforcement of NCDC protocol in previous orientation courses gave the NYSC right to host the ongoing 2021 Batch 'A' (Stream 1) orientation course.
According to the NYSC boss, the Committee should discharge their duty without fear or favour to the entire camp community.
"I want to admonish you to put all sentiments apart when discharging the onerous task. The term of reference is straightforward and we are to ensure that the protocol is observed during all programmes and activities".
"Let it be known that no one is above the law when it comes to monitoring and enforcing the directives as handed over to you by the Presidential Task Force on COVID -19 through the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)".
"Ensure that you treat everyone equally without fear or favour and restrain yourself from setting negative precedent such that you look the other way when some people you perceives as superiors or VIPs flout the directive and hammer other citizens for not doing the right thing".
She said her administration will give unconditional support to the Committee to succeed in its assignment but she was quick to add that anyone whose work ethics are not in tandem with the laid down rules and regulations will incur the wrath of the management.
The Coordinator tasked the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) team to organise a sensitisation talk or lecture for the COVID -19 Enforcement Vanguard so that they will know their bounds.
"Let them know the sacrificial and challenging nature of their assignments which included but not limited to encouraging their colleagues to wear the face mask appropriately, observe social/physical distancing during programmes and activities and ensure that bucket placed at strategic places within the camp are filled with water for hand washing.
She promised to assess the level of compliance with regular interface with the Committee.
"This is not the first time we have been doing this and I don't envisage any challenges. Let all hands continue to be on desk and we shall succeed" she concluded.
The Camp Director, Mr. Olawuyi Lasisi advised the Committee members to intimate his office with any challenges they may encounter during monitoring or enforcement of the COVID -19.
Mr. Lasisi while seeking for cooperation of the Committee members said that the war against the dreaded and novel virus is a collective one and everyone should put in his/her best.
