Nysc marks National Environmental Sanitation exercise in Oyo



The National Youth Service Corps Oyo State has marked the National Environmental Sanitation day as directed by the Directorate Headquarters. 

The exercise which held at Bodija market, Ibadan and simultaneously at other local government areas within the State, had Corps members/staff cleaning the market environment.

The State Coordinator  Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe ably represented by Assistant Director/ Zonal Inspector Ibadan North, Mr. Olumide Adekeye commended the Corps members for coming  out en masse to participate in the exercise to achieve the mandate of the NYSC Director General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim who having observed from the earlier concluded Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers program that a greater percentage of ailments recorded have direct relationship with poor sanitation and hygiene practices. 


Adekeye, equally stated that the nation wide sanitation exercise is an opportunity for corps members to sensitize the populace on the importance of cleaning their surroundings and avert the dangers inherent in dirty environment and improper waste disposal. 

Expressing her appreciation, the market  leader Iyaloja of Bodija market, Alhaja Sikiratu Adebayo commended the NYSC for the laudable initiative of ensuring a clean market environment. 


She further said the presence of the Corps members would motivate the traders towards maintaining good hygiene while assuring that the efforts of the Scheme to maintain a clean environment will not be compromised rather with other leaders, the market community will embark on routine sanitation which is of benefit to all.
