Sunshine Stars/ Queens Supporters Club has joined other football fraternities to sympathise with the state's female team and management over the death of one of their players, Elizabeth Johnson.
Speaking at the team's training ground in Akure, the Chairman of the supporters club, Comrade Olowa Felix prayed that God should give the team and its management fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Olowa represented by his General Secretary, Tunde Adeboboye, averred that death is an inevitable debt we all owe, adding that we can only pray to God for long life.
He said: "I admonished you my sisters to take solace in the fact that God giveth and taketh, mourning from now till eternity will not bring our dear sister back. The most important thing for us that has the grace to still be alive is to be doing good, so that when it comes, people will be saying good things about us, as we have been hearing about the deceased.
"We are here to sympathise with you and also to cheer you up, so that you can face the challenges ahead of you and the team squarely. We want you to go out in your next match and play to win for your late colleague, so that she will be smiling wherever she is".
"We really share in your grief. We know how you are all feeling but life must continue and we can't question God. Let us go all out to win for her in all our subsequent matches and make her spirit happy. Lift your spirit, be bold and take the battle where she left it and ensure our darling team is not relegated", he concluded.
Reacting on behalf of the team, Coach Kayode Emmanuel thanked the supporters club for identifying with the team during this hard time. He prayed they will not be paid back in like manner.
"I also pray that the team and the entire state never experienced such death in the name of Jesus Christ", he prayed.
