Former vice-president and serial presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party. Atiku emerged as a candidate at the end of the presidential primary after polling 371 votes. Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, scored 237 votes. Gunshots were fired at the venue of the Akure North/South Primary election being held at Ade Super Hotel in Akure, Ondo state capital today (Friday)  Delegates, journalists, and INEC officials have to scamper for safety as canisters of tear gas were fired. Unknown gunmen have killed a 49-year-old man identified as Abayomi Olukoju popularly known as Engineer.  The father of four who hailed from Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State was gunned down along Ifefe road between Ajowa and Akunnu-Akoko.  It was learnt that the deceased was killed by the bandits after he tried to escape from the scene of the kidnapping, very close to a spot where the popular Abuja-Ajowa bound driver Toyin Mallah was killed recently on his way from Abuja.
