Ondo corps members shines at DG's festival in Abuja



The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has declared that the NYSC Ondo treasured the determination of the athletes that represented the Secretariat at the just concluded NYSC Director General Sports and Cultural Festival which was held in the nation's capital, Abuja.

Welcoming the four athletes who made the Secretariat proud in her office in Akure, the elated State Coordinator said that determination is a key ingredient to accomplishing giant strides.

"I want to sincerely commend you my queens and NYSC Ondo State Sports Ambassadors for ensuring that the Secretariat occupied a conspicuous place in the medals table and I equally want to appreciate you for your good and impressive conduct, and for doing us proud in far away Abuja".

While assuring the corps members that they will surely reap the benefits of their determination, she noted that with what they have achieved, sky would definitely be their starting point and urged them not to rest on their oars till they reach the zenith in sporting arena.

"I want you to take a cue from the statement credited to the world new sprint champion, Tobi Amusan who said that despite her consecutive failure, she had strong conviction that she would one day mount the podium as world champion. Her hard work, dedication and resilience made the world to stand still in awe for her and I see all of you dominating the track and field event in the foreseeable future".

"As you can see, you went and you have conquered, these medals are personal to you and I urge you to let it motivate you to greater height. It is also an added advantage to your stewardship in NYSC as you have created a place for yourselves in NYSC Hall of Fame and I admonish you to continue to be hardworking so that you can break more grounds as more rewards will come your way".

The amiable administrator equally appreciated the Sports Schedule Officer, Mr. Gbenga Oyeniyi whose sacrifice and words of encouragement made the difference in the lives of the corps members.

Mr. Oyeniyi, who is the Head of ICT thanked the State Coordinator for her commitment and generosity which served as preparatory tonic that launched the team into medals table.

The names of the athletes who performed the heroic feat and were first runners-up both in female category of 200 metres and 400 by 100 metres are Shitta, Oluwakemi Rahmot, OD/21C/4322; Owoeye, Ayotomilola Sarah, OD/22A/0241; Abiona, Mercy Adeyinka, OD/22A/3568 and Erechukwu, Chidumeje Chigozie, OD/22B/0477.


The silver medalists were presented with cash gifts, prizes and Letter of Commendation by the ever-supportive sports enthusiast and the 20th Chief Executive Officer of the noble Scheme in Ondo State, Mrs. 'Victorious' Victoria Nnenna Ani.
