The Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has disclosed that the impact corps members are willing to make during the service year will be enough to better the country and return her to the path of glory.
The State Coordinator made the disclosure during the briefing exercise for the 2022 Batch 'C' (Stream II) prospective corps members deployed to Ondo State.
Mrs. Ani who is known for her passion for mentoring and moulding graduate youths into becoming better and responsible Nigerians said that the huge investment placed at the disposal of the youths is meant to change their orientation for the betterment of the nation.
"My beloved Kings and Queens, Nigeria is a very beautiful country where the youths are encouraged to showcase their creativity and ingenuity in a positive way that will bring the desired development to the country. Our responsibility is to offer you capacity-building training which will have a multiplier effect on our society".
"Orientation course as the name implies, is a training ground where graduates from all walks of life and different backgrounds come together to cross-fertilise ideas and proffer solutions to myriads of challenges bedevilling this country. The programme is packaged to toughen you for the challenges you are most likely to face in the foreseeable future".
She admonished the corps participants to complement the good works and various corps welfare packages of the Federal Government such as National Health insurance Scheme (NHIS), monthly allowance and others by giving their best to the nation with their selfless service.
On security issue, the NYSC Ondo State boss advised the members of the service corps to take their personal security seriously and ensure that they don't put themselves in harm's way by engaging in any untoward act that may threaten their security and general well-being.
She said that they should be their brother's keeper by looking after one other and reporting to the appropriate quarters any discovery of issues that are inimical to their peaceful co-existence either in the hostel or platoon.
The State Coordinator explained that Federal Government has made provisions for all they need on the camp and as such should not be tempted to pay or induce payment for any services rendered.
"We have been saying this from time immemorial, all services in camp are devoid of payment, be it relocation or posting but our claims have not been taken seriously. I wish to reiterate that both giver and taker will face prosecution and know that all eyes are on you so don't make yourself culpable".
She affirmed the existence of COVID -19 and warned that anyone found not obeying the protocol against the virus as outlined by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID -19 and National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) would be prosecuted in line with the camp rules.
Mrs. Ani thereafter inaugurated the three Corps Camp Directors, Camp Court and COVID -19 Enforcement Vanguards and charged them to discharge their respective duties in line with the mandate of their assignments.
The three Corps Camp Directors who were charged to be loyal, dedicated, committed and generally exhibit leadership traits are Innocent Chidieberei, code number OD/22C/1605; Emene, Chioma Justina, code number OD/22C/1632 and Amos Akoji, code number OD/22C/1889.
On a final note, the State Coordinator enlightened them on the need to use social media responsibly and warned them against spreading or forwarding information and messages they know little or nothing about.
