The National Universities Commission NUC has directed Vice-Chancellors of all Universities and Directors/ Chief Executive of Inter University Centres to shut down academic activities suspended between 22nd February and 14th March, 2023 for Elections.
A statement by the Executive Deputy Secretary Administration of NUC Dr Chris Maiyaki says the Minister of Education, Mal. Adamu Adamu gave the approval following extensive consultations with the relevant security agencies in view of the 2023 General Elections scheduled to hold on Saturday 25 February 2023, for the Presidential and National Assembly, and Saturday 11 March 2023 for Gubernatorial and State Assembly, respectively.
The statement explains that the closure became imperative In view of the concerns expressed on the security and safety of staff, students and properties of respective institutions.
