Nysc DG visits Oyo orientation camp



The newly appointed Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, DSS, Fdc, MTRCN accompanied by senior officials of the scheme from the Directorate Headquarters has visited the Oyo NYSC orientation camp in Iseyin. 

The visit was the first of its kind  to the South-West for the New DG who assumed duty as the 22nd Director General of NYSC.

Welcoming the DG, the State Coordinator, Mr. Odoba Abel Oche gave a report of the ongoing 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Orientation Course through which he paid glowing tributes to the participating Corps members and the NYSC staff that are working with him to make the exercise a success. 

In response, the DG expressed his pleasure over the warm reception accorded him and the disciplined displayed by corps members.He also spoke about his admiration for the quarter guard that welcomed him and the general cleanliness of the entire camp environment. 

Thereafter, he addressed the Corps members charging them to maintain the high level of dicipline that they exhibited and translate the sound training that have been imparted on them into an impactful service year as they assume various roles in thier Places of Primary Assignment (PPA).

Recounting his own experience as a Youth Corps member in Osun State in the year 1995, the DG urged the Corps Members to make friends; respect the culture of their host communities and relate well with the people so that they can have a memorable and rewarding service year. 

In furtherance of his encouragement to the Corps members, he maintained that NYSC scheme has zero tolerance for extortion.

The DG used the ocassion of his visit to explain his 5-point agenda for the scheme. He maintained that security and welfare of  Corps members is topmost in his priority. 





He gave an assurance to the Corps members about their safety during the general elections. He also informed them that he had on assumption of duty, visited all Service Chiefs in the country to get assurance from them for the protection of Corps members on election duties. 

He however enjoined the Corps members to abide by the rules and regulations guiding their participation as umpires in the elections and urged them to desist from unauthorised journeys throughout their service year.

In his role as a caring father and official magnanimity, the DG dolled out huge sums of money to different set of Corps members who impressed him with their performances during the visit. 

He also put smiles on the faces of the Batch A, Stream one Corps members by donating 200 plastic chairs to ease sitting arrangements in the camp and two fat cows for their enjoyment.
