The Executive Governor of Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede has encouraged Corps members mobilized to Oyo State for the 2023 batch A Stream 2 Orientation Course to endeavor to leave long lasting legacies in their respective Places of Primary Assignment and their hosts communities.
While addressing the Corps members at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch A stream 2 orientation course, he admonished them to live up to expectation by being a solution provider to their host communities.
He appreciated all camp officials in ensuring a hitch free orientation course by taking proper care of the Corps members in the last 21 days.
He congratulated and commended corps members for cooperating with the camp officials and offering themselves honorably for the intellectual and physical trainings they had in camp.
Governor Makinde expressed implicit confidence in his perceived good conduct and readiness of the Corps members to add value and contribute positively to the accelerated growth of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
He appealed to them to shun any form of corruption, social vices and be good ambassadors of the NYSC and Nigeria at large.He equally urged them to be very serious with the Skill Acquisition and Entreprenurship Development programme in order to be self employed after service.
He reiterated the commitment of his administration towards creating enabling environment for the people of Oyo State. He assured Corps members of adequate welfarism throughout their stay as he described the people of Oyo State as relatively peaceful and accommodating individuals.
Earlier in his address the State Coordinator NYSC Oyo State, Mr Odoba Abel Oche expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his tremendous support for the scheme in the state.
He saluted camp officials, describing them as the engine that propelled activities throughout the orientation course.
He advised Corps members to receive their posting letters to their Places of Primary Assignment in good faith and brace up to challenge of nation building. Odoba urged them to be decisive in their dealings and exhibit leadership traits as the country is expecting a lot from them.
Newsline NG however gathered that no fewer than 2,129 Corps members participated in the three-week long programme at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin.
