The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Odoba Abel Oche has called on 2023 Batch A Stream II Corps members undergoing their orientation course at the Oyo NYSC permanent orientation camp, Iseyin to take Skill Aquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme seriously.
He said the extent of their learning will determine their earning power. "Your learning determines your earning" Odoba said.
The call was made by Odoba during the Inter-platoon Competition, Exhibition and Closing Ceremony of the 2023 Batch A Stream II Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
He expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiasm and eagerness of the Corps members to aquire various skills as attested to by the representatives of the various SAED branches.
He also appreciated the quality of products and great skills displayed by Corps members during the exhibition marking the end of the In-camp SAED Training for the 2023 Batch A, Stream II Orientation Course.
The Coordinator emphasizes the need for Corps members to identify a skill acquisition centre of their choice around their Place of Primary Assignment and complete their training in any area of the 12 branches of SAED.
He concluded his address by tasking them to ensure that they aspire to become job creators rather than job seekers at the end of their service year.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Assistant Director Skill Aquisition and Entreprenurship Development, Mrs. Okolie Janet, who was represented at the programme by a Chief Inspector of the branch Mrs. Roselyn Obayelu praised the teachable spirit of the corps members and the dedication to hard work of the trainers which ensured the success of the nine days in-camp training.
The exhibition and closing ceremony witnessed creative display of skills through keen competition among platoons in areas like Make-up and Gele, Tie and Dye, Food processing and preservation, ICT, Hair dressing, Multi purpose Craft, Tailoring and Bag making. Competitors were adjudged based on creativity, composition, neatness, originality, presentation and timeliness in the various works presented.
At the end of the exhibition, the State Coordinator, presented prizes to first position winners in all the categories, the Camp Director, Mr. Kayode Folayan presented to the second position winners while Mr. Saheed Adeoye, SAED, Monitoring Officer presented prizes to third position winners.
