The National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Odoba Abel Oche has urged the outgoing 2022 Batch C Stream II Corps Members to strive to be job providers rather than being job seekers by applying the various skills they acquired through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) during service year.
Odoba gave the charge at the low-key Passing-out programme for 2022 Batch C Stream II Corps members held at the NYSC Secretariat,Agodi,Ibadan.
Odoba noted that Entrepreneurship has been highlighted as the remedy to unemployment and financial independence among the teeming youths in the country.
He enjoined them to maximise the opportunity of the credit facilities offered by the Scheme's collaborating partners including the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry and other financial institutions to set up businesses of their own.
"We are in a dynamic economy full of opportunities where you can easily thrive if you are able to create something productive to earn you a living.
Therefore, try and identify your potentials and keep your vision and dreams alive. You are all destined for greater heights and you must not relent until you are there", he said.
The NYSC Oyo helmsman who called on the outgoing corps members to continue to portray the ideals of the NYSC Scheme imbibed during the service year,also stressed they should embrace entrepreneurship which he described as the surest path to a life of self reliance, while reiterating the need to continually hone the hands-on skill sets.
Congratulating and Commending them for their remarkable achievements in serving Nigeria and making a positive impact in their respective communities, he advised them to refrain from sharp and unethical practices capable of jeopardizing their future and bringing the name of NYSC to disrepute. He equally asked them to shun negative tendencies and other social vices.
Earlier in her Opening Remark, the Local Government Inspector, Ibadan North, Mrs Bola Obarinde while presenting the outgoing corps members to the SC, commended the Corps members for their contributions to the fatherland in the course of their national service.
She said the efforts they have put in at the different Places of Primary Assignment remain unquantifiable and noticeable at the different sectors of Oyo State and the nation in general.
Highlight of the event was the sample distribution of Certificate of National Service to deserving corps members.
The low-key event presided over by the NYSC Oyo SC, Mr. Odoba Abel Oche also had in attendance Assistant Director (AD), Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mrs. Olusesi Olabimpe, Assistant Director(AD), Corps Reward, Mrs. Arifayan Ngozi, the Certificate Monitoring Officer from NDHQ, Mrs Yagwom Rose, among other staff present.
