The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple has charged the Zonal and Local Government Inspectors to ensure that priority attention is given to corps members under their jurisdiction at all times.
The State Coordinator made the charge during the interactive session the administrator had with the field officers at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.
Pepple, who lauded the contributions of the NYSC Inspectors in all the eighteen Local Governments and four Zonal Offices averred that corps members should be treated with all forthrightness while insisting that the graduate youths must have something positive to benefit from his or her inspector.
"My colleagues, I want to commend your resilience and commitment towards this job you are doing and I want to say that the Almighty God will reward your sacrifice and strengthen you to continue to nurture and mentor the members of the service corps. Be firm, treat them fairly and leave them with their conscience".
The NYSC Ondo State helmsman admonished them to exercise restraint and greater caution when dealing with the corps members, who are intelligent and versatile, saying that when they pay attention to instructions and directives, the error of judgement would be minimal.
"Unless we don't want to be truthful and honest, we know ourselves because performances vary and those who are not doing the right thing should retrace their steps and brace up so that the long arms of the law would not catch up with them".
Continuing, he said, 'For those who stand on the path of righteousness and known to be firm and fair, even, if they are being vilified, the good character they have built for themselves over the years will work in their favour. The reward may tarry, but I want to assure you that the Almighty God will open the book of remembrance in your favour" he admonished.
He reminded the field officers that they were the inspectors, teachers, nurses, doctors and defacto parents to the patriotic Nigerians and this has brought a huge responsibility on them to treat them like their biological children and siblings.
The cerebral administrator declared that the inspection carried out by the staff of the Corps Inspection and Monitoring Branch is an eye opener which predisposed that officers should interprete the policy of the Scheme in line with the existential knowledge and experience.
The NYSC Ondo State boss enjoined them to encourage their corps members to submit the reports of their Community Development Service (CDS) and other notable activities to the Press and Public Relations Unit so that the world would know that they are actually serving the country effectively.
The Coordinator stated that his administration placed premium on timely dissemination of information and pleaded with the field officers not to hoard or hide anything relating to corps members from him, saying that efficient service delivery should be their watchword at all times.
Pepple, while declaring that he believed very much in officiality and protocol, however said that whenever anything that threatens the health, security or well-being of corps members cropped up, he would set aside bureaucracy and administrative bottlenecks in order to deal with the issue at hand and thereafter resort to the file to perfect the submission made by officers.
Drawing the curtains on the meeting, the State Coordinator encouraged the field officers to support the Assistant Director/Head, Corps Inspection and Monitoring Branch, Mrs. Christianah Oluwatoyin Afolayan in the enormous task of properly monitoring the corps members who are serving in all the eighteen Local Governments of the State.
Afolayan, on behalf of the field officers pledged their loyalty to the 21st Chief Executive Officer of the Scheme in Ondo, the Sunshine State and promised to support his aspirations to take the Scheme to greater heights.
