Ondo State coord meets Mgt team, harps on impeccable character

The newly appointed NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple has advised members of the management team to exemplify impeccable character while discharging their responsibilities.

The State Coordinator made the statement during his maiden meeting with the management team in his office at the NYSC Secretariat located within the Federal Secretariat Complex, Igbatoro Road, Akure.

Pepple, who disclosed that the immediate past State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Ani spoke proudly about the character of the members of the team, harped on the need to live good examples which the subordinates should emulate.

"During the handing over ceremony, my predecessor declared that she had the best management team in NYSC formations nationwide and I want to let you know that you have the responsibility not to disappoint yourselves as any untoward act will be contrary to that declaration".

He said that the task ahead is enormous and not what a single soul can accomplish because the Scheme was dealing with an intellectual and sophisticated strata of the society.

"My colleagues, it is our collective responsibility to lift high the name of the Scheme. It is a fact that I am the State Coordinator today, by the grace of God but in the real sense of the word, your individual and collective inputs would make key performance indicators to favour us and justify the confidence reposed in all of us".

The State Coordinator, an avid supporter of Jeremy Bentham's Utilitarian philosophy of the greatest happiness of the greatest number of people encouraged them to have positive disposition to life and exude confidence in their ability to perform exceptionally well.

"We are dealing with mobile intellectuals and intelligent graduate youths and we should be ahead of them in terms of thinking, presentation of facts and ideas as well as show maturity".

The 14th male Chief Executive Officer of the Scheme in the Sunshine State enjoined the members of the management team to initiate robust discussions and engage him during meetings and not to adopt 'siddon look' approach.

"It is pertinent to inform you that I am a policy analyst. I engage in constructive criticism and I expect people working with me to act in like manner so that we would move the Secretariat forward. Do not see me as someone who knows it all but an administrator who is willing to learn. I am open to new and fresh ideas that will give us an edge in finding solutions to challenges".

"I am aware that some may have other side hustles that complement their salaries but this is the job that has brought us honour and respect in the society. Let us, therefore, serve the interest of the members of the service corps without let or hindrance. Let us carry and share in their burdens. Let them see us parents and brothers they can trust and lean on because what goes round comes round".

He appealed to them to talk to their subordinates on the Public Service Rule (PSR) and Work Ethics, saying that staff should be grateful that they have a decent job that is paying their bills as several thousands are still roaming the streets not knowing where the next meal would come from.

The Coordinator said that the meeting was called to familiarise with members of the 'winning management team' and to plan ahead for the 2024 Batch 'A' (Stream II) orientation course.
