The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has tasked members of staff on the need to rededicate themselves in the new year in order to enhance the corporate identity of the noble Scheme.
The State Coordinator made this known during the first general staff meeting of the year held at the NYSC Zonal Office in Akure, the state capital.
Bakare, who was full of appreciation to the entire workforce, said that all hands must be on deck so as to build on the successes recorded last year, disclosing that the activities of NYSC are generating much traffic on the media space.
"My distinguished colleagues, I want to wish you and your respective families the best in the new year and to seek more cooperation to achieve our mandate for the graduate youths under our care. It is my fervent prayer that the grace to succeed shall be divinely released to us all, Insha Allah. You did well during the previous year, and I am confident that this year would be better".
She acknowledged the challenges of office space and furniture, which were inadequate and promised to prioritise the welfare of staff so as to give effective service delivery to all and sundry.
The NYSC Ondo State boss appealed to staff not to fold their arms or keep mute whenever they see things not going the right and proper way but endeavour to bring such observations or issues to the attention of the management, while promising that constructive criticism will be addressed and feedback mechanism activated.
The Coordinator announced that the 2024 Batch 'C' (Stream II) orientation course will commence the following week, and asked all committees to intensify the preparations for the smooth take-off of the first cardinal programme of the laudable Scheme.
She thereafter unveiled the Camp Director for the course, Mr. James Olukayode Amusan, with a call to him to leverage his good relationships with staff to bring out the best, so as to achieve tremendous success like the previous orientation courses.
The staff general meeting, which coincided with the sensitisation programme anchored by Mrs. Stella Olojede, from the Human Resource Management, NYSC Directorate Headquarters, harped on the need for staff to comply with the directives issued by the management or received from the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
She advised staff not to take things for granted but should always endeavour to seek clarifications on matters they can not interprete, as ignorance is not an excuse not to perform optimally in service.
Olojede, speaking on the theme, 'Understanding Human Resource Management (HRM) Policies and Procedures for Effective Service Delivery', outlined the challenges bedevilling smooth operations of the Department and how best to tackle it.

She disclosed that the management has adopted global best practices to deal with staff matters so that the erroneous impression they have would snowball to harmonious working relationships.
The resource person took time to explain the expansion, which happened in the Scheme recently and admonished the workforce to be diligent and hardworking so as to remain in the good book of the management, as anyone who practices what is not in line with the established norms would face the consequences of their actions.
The sensitisation programme was carried out in all NYSC formations nationwide to set the tone for the operations of the Scheme for the current year.

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Ondo State, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has tasked heads of various committees to reflect on the objectives of the Scheme while dealing with the prospective corps members.
The State Coordinator made this known in her office in Akure, the state capital while presiding over the meeting with collaborating agencies, saying emotional intelligence will go a long way to encouraging the graduate youths leaving their comfort zones to have confidence to serve wherever they are deployed.
Bakare, who said that the core objective of the NYSC is to foster enduring relationships and unity among Nigerians, advised them to treat all 2024 Batch 'C' (Stream ll) prospective corps members as one irrespective of their social backgrounds, religious beliefs and ethnic affiliation.
The NYSC Ondo State boss reiterated the commitment of the management towards enhancing the security and welfare of corps members, disclosing that her administration has taken all security measures to forestall any negative circumstance.
She told the officials that their coming is to join hands to implement the policy directives, and not to protect a particular vested interest, or do things that will attract undue favour to them.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am deliberately using the word, camp officials to impress it upon you that your organisation has selected you to come over and complement NYSC to give the best orientation course to the patriotic Nigerians mobilised and deployed for national service, and not to protect a particular vested interest. As camp officials, it is expected that you will uphold the assignment without fear or favour, let or hindrance".
The Coordinator informed them of the action her office had taken in respect of the Human Metapneumovirus, which is ravaging some parts of the world, announcing that all precautionary measures as directed by the Directorate Headquarters, Abuja have been complied with.
The Scheme's helmsman in the Sunshine State appealed to the Heads to sensitise prospective corps members on the need to maintain high sense of hygiene so that the recently discovered virus will not have a place in their midst.
"The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations (UN) has alerted all the countries of the world on the outbreak of Human Metapneumovirus, which is not yet in Africa but we need to take proactive and preventive measures so that all of us, including corps members will be safe. From now on, let us all be advocates of safe environment' she charged.
She enjoined them to impress it upon their subordinates to uphold the synergy that had been working well in previous orientation, disclosing that NYSC Ondo State remained the shinning example other Secretariats follow.
In his brief remarks, the Camp Director, Mr. James Olukayode Amusan, while unveiling the theme of the orientation course, 'Leadership and Teamwork' says that officials can only provide the needed leadership if they are disciplined and value integrity.
The Camp Director appealed to everyone to follow strictly the timing of all programmes and activities, saying that encroachment usually breeds bad blood, and this should not be allowed to happen.
Amusan charged everyone to protect the core values of the Scheme as well as operate in line with the code of conduct approved by the management, as anything contrary will be administratively handled.
"The conduct of successful orientation course requires the collaborative efforts of everyone, and I want to enjoin you to let us work together as a team,so that when the accolades come, we shall raise our shoulders high and give God all the glory" he concluded.
Other heads made their observations known on how best to prosecute successfully the first orientation course for the year 2025.
