We're Committed to Improved Welfare, Security of Corps Members – Gov. Aiyedatiwa

The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in the state.

The governor gave the assurance through the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Orientation Course held on Tuesday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko.

According to him, “the state remains committed to youth empowerment, development, and welfare. We assure you of a peaceful and conducive environment to carry out your national service and make meaningful contributions.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa, however, urged the corps members to remain law-abiding, security-conscious and conduct themselves in ways that reflect positively on their families, institutions, and the NYSC scheme. He reminded them that they are ambassadors of unity, peace and development, and therefore must live up to this noble calling.

He further encouraged the corps members to allow their conduct to reflect the values instilled in them during the orientation course by being proactive, embracing their host communities, identifying areas of need, and contributing to community development ininitiatives. In his words, “by doing so, you will not only leave positive footprints but also promote national unity and integration.”

The governor also advised them to take full advantage of the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, urging them to pursue ventures that will make them self-reliant after their service year.

While highlighting the roles of community leaders and stakeholders, Governor Aiyedatiwa appealed for their continuous support, love, and protection for corps members. “Embrace them as your own and provide the enabling environment they need to thrive,” he said.

One of the major highlights of the event was the presentation of commendation awards to outstanding camp officials. In the NYSC officials’ category, Mr. Aminu Jelili Adebayo was honoured, while Inspector Sanni Mary was recognized in the collaborating agencies’ category.
