Reports circulating on social media about the alleged death of legendary gospel singer Deborah Fasoyin have been dismissed as false, with sources close to the family confirming that the veteran musician is alive and in good health.
The clarification came following widespread posts online claiming that the renowned singer had passed away, a development that quickly generated reactions and concern among fans, admirers and members of the gospel music community across Nigeria.
Reacting to the rumour, a Veteran Gospel Musician, Timi Osukoya, debunked the report, describing it as fake news.
Osukoya revealed that he had personally contacted the son of the respected gospel icon, who confirmed that his mother was alive and doing well.
According to him, “This is fake news… Mama is fine and sound. I just spoke with the son now at about 6:57am. Please let’s verify facts.”
His statement was aimed at calming fears and discouraging the spread of unverified information on social media platforms.
Newsline NG learnt that the false report had earlier spread rapidly across several online platforms, sparking confusion among fans who hold the veteran singer in high esteem for her immense contributions to gospel music and Christian ministry in Nigeria.
Mrs Deborah Fasoyin, a widely celebrated inspirational musician gained national recognition as the leader of the popular gospel group C.A.C. Good Women Choir, whose songs have remained evergreen among Christian faithful.
