APC Submits Final List to INEC, Overturns 8 Results in Ondo Senate, Reps 2027 race
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) has approved a sweeping review of its National Assembly candidates in Ondo State, replacing eight aspirants who initially emerged during the party’s primary elections.
The decision followed the consideration of petitions and appeals arising from the recently concluded APC primaries.
The changes were formally communicated in a letter dated June 29, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), transmitting the party’s final list of senatorial and House of Representatives candidates.
The letter, signed by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, stated that the revised list reflected the final decisions reached after reviewing reports submitted by the Primary Election Appeal Committees, in accordance with the Electoral Act and INEC guidelines.
The review resulted in significant alterations to Ondo State’s National Assembly tickets, making the state one of the most affected by the party’s post-primary appeal process.
For the Senate, APC replaced two of its three candidates. Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (SAN) emerged as the party’s candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, replacing Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, while Senator Olajide Ipinsagba secured the ticket for Ondo North Senatorial District in place of Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.
However, the party retained Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke as its candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District.
In the House of Representatives category, Hon. Donald K. Ojogo replaced Mr. Akingboye Leke as the APC candidate for Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, while Hon. Festus Olarewaju Akingbaso emerged ahead of Hon. Rasaq Obe in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.
Similarly, Hon. Dr. Oluwatimehin Adelegbe replaced Hon. Kayode Adejana in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, while Hon. Okunjimi John Odimayo emerged in place of Hon. Olumuyiwa Daramola for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.
In Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Michael Olamidotun Akintomide replaced Dr. Abiola Makinde, while Hon. Festus Ayodele Adefiranye secured the party’s ticket for Ile Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency, replacing Oyerinmade Matthew.
Meanwhile, four candidates retained their positions following the review. They include Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke (Ondo South Senatorial District), Ifeoluwa Ehindero (Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency), Adegboyega Adefarati (Akoko South East/South West Federal Constituency), and Hon. Omowummi Olatunji, who remains the only female APC House of Representatives candidate in Ondo State for Akure North/South Federal Constituency.
The revised list has now been forwarded to INEC as APC’s official position for the affected National Assembly constituencies.
Political observers believe the development may trigger fresh reactions and possible legal contests from aspirants whose victories in the primaries were overturned ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
