Bus Driver Suffers Suspected Seizure While Driving

Passengers aboard a commercial bus on Lagos' Third Mainland Bridge narrowly escaped what could have been a devastating tragedy on Sunday after the driver reportedly suffered a sudden seizure while behind the wheel.

According to eyewitness accounts circulating on social media, the incident occurred while the bus was in motion on the busy bridge, causing the vehicle to lose control and head dangerously toward the edge of the roadway.

A passenger seated beside the driver reportedly sprang into action by grabbing the steering wheel and applying the brakes, successfully bringing the vehicle under control before it could plunge into the water below.

The passenger's quick thinking and courage have been widely praised online, with many describing the intervention as heroic and crediting the individual with saving the lives of everyone on board.

A video shared by social media user @demiadenuga monitored by Newsline NG captured the aftermath of the frightening incident, showing shocked passengers and bystanders reacting to the near-disaster. 

The footage has since attracted widespread attention and renewed conversations about emergency preparedness and the health of commercial drivers. 

As of the time of filing this report, authorities, including emergency response agencies and traffic officials, had yet to issue an official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the incident or the driver's medical condition. 

The incident has also reignited concerns over routine medical assessments for commercial drivers, with many Nigerians calling for stricter health screening measures to help prevent similar occurrences on the nation's highways.

No fatalities or injuries had been officially reported as of press time, while investigations and official confirmation from relevant authorities are still being awaited.

Court Strikes out Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy Declaration

A High court sitting in Okitipupa has nullified the Oniju of Iju-Odo Chieftaincy declaration, holding that the State Government had no power to create a new chieftaincy without the consent of the Rebuja of Osooro land, the prescribed authority over chieftaincy matters in the communities within Osooro land, including Iju-Odo Community.
