"This project has provided sanitary pads and menstrual Hygiene education for more than 300 teenage girls in Oyo state "Our Target is to put an end to period poverty among Teenage girls in Oyo state and to provide Washable, Reusable sanitary pads for 10,000 teenage girls in year 2021. Ondo: Man arrested for defiling a teenager

For allegedly defiling a 12-year old girl, Ruth Ashaolu, a 37- year-old man, Wasiu Lateef has been arrested by the police in  Ondo State.  According to report, he was alleged to have defile the teenage girl at an uncompleted building in Lapanu village in Ile- Oluji Local government . The state commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami disclosed this while parading some suspects at the police headquarters, Akure The police commissioner said, “one kunle Afolayan of Lapanu village reported  to the Police at Ile-Oluji that he heard the voice of one 12- year-old girl screaming in an uncompleted  building. ”On reaching there , he saw one Wasiu Lateef sexually raping the girl. “The suspect was promptly arrested and has made some confessional statements. He will soon be arraigned in court” he said. 

Makinde inspects on-going Akesan Market, 5.25 km road project in Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has on Thursday inspect two on-going infrastructure projects in Oyo town - the Akesan Market and the Gedu-Oroki-Sabo-Asipa Road, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of the works being done by the contractors. The governor and his team took time to inspect the completed phase one of the Akesan Market, while he also led some government officials to inspect the on-going rehabilitation of the 5.25 kilometres Gedu-Oroki-Sabo-Asipa Road. While speaking shortly after inspecting the two projects, the governor told newsmen that the quality of the works done showed that there is a new approach to execution of public projects in the state, adding that residents of the town were, indeed, excited. Ondo: Police new recruit arrested for armed robbery

  A newly recruited Police Constable, David Friday, attached to Olofin Police Station in Idanre local government area, has been arrested for armed robbery. He was employed into the Nigerian police in 2019. The 27-year old David  was arrested alongsidd e a soldier serving with the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigeria Army, Owena Cantonment, Innocent Victor. They were reportedly armed with a Jack knife and other dangerous weapons at Ojadale junction where they attacked and robbed some persons . Items they reportedly stole were N6000, one itel phone valued at N8500, 30 litres of petrol and N125,000. Cleric jailed for two years in Ondo

A state High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo state Capital city has sentenced Pastor John Abiodun to two years imprisonment, for lying and Publishing false allegation against the founder of the Promiseland Prophetic Ministry, Akure, Pastor Gbenga Akinbiyi. Abiodun had alleged that seven Baby Placentas were Planted on the church’s altar. The trial judge, Justice Bode Adegbehingbe held that Pastor Abiodun was found guilty of committing perjury, which is punishable under section 118 of Criminal code, laws of Ondo state. The court however acquitted Professor Lanre Olu-Adeyemi, a lecturer at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) of allegations of aiding false publication, impersonation and conspiracy. Ondo Govt distributes 10,000 Rat Poisons to end Lassa Fever

Ondo State Government has distributed 10,000 poisons to residents of Ayede Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area for the purpose of killing Rats in the community to curb further spread of Lassa fever. The State Epidemiologist, Dr Stephen Fagbemi made this known on Thursday to residents of Ayede Ogbese at an awareness campaign tagged "End Lassa Now"   Dr.Stephen Fagbemi who was represented by the Assistant State Epidemiologist, Dr. Dolani Gbelela, said the state is now the epicenter of Lassa fever in the country. Dr. Gbelela said 423 cases of Lassa fever were recorded in 2020 out of which 81 persons died, representing 34 percent of Lassa Fever related deaths in Nigeria. Gbelela stated that Lassa Fever is of a greater burden to the state, hence the need for the campaign and advocated that necessary measures be put in place to eradicate the scourge and those mostly affected were between 21 and 30 years. Governor 'Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has declared that his administration is determined to bring insecurity to its knees in the state by dealing decisively with troublemakers. Governor Makinde, who made the declaration in a state-wide broadcast on Wednesday, to residents of the state, aired on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), asked residents to come together and put the interest of Oyo State first in the fight against insecurity. He maintained that the collective efforts of all residents of the state is the only way to continue to keep the peace and sustain the secure environment, which he said, has contributed to the growth of the state's economy in the past.
